Errol Spence Jr. vs Shawn Porter
Round 1: Spence comes out to center ring and slips a Porter jab. Porter jumps in with two jabs to the body and falls short. Porter bouncing on his toes and jabs upstairs but misses. Another two jabs from Porter falls short. Spence misses on a jab to the body. Jab from Spence gets blocked. Porter counters with a combination and then tries to rough Spence up on the inside. Porter is using his ambush tactics to get his punches off. Porter throws several shots to the body with Spence along the ropes. Spence starts coming forward and Porter misses on a jab to the body. Right hook lands to the body for Spence. Right hand from Porter partially lands. Porter 10-9.
Round 2: Porter’s father advises him to leave his body open so he can land head shots in the exchanges. Spence comes forward and Porter beats him to the punches with a jab downstairs. Spence misses on a jab upstairs. Combination from Porter comes quickly and scores. Porter and Spence trade good counters on one another. Spence misses on a jab. Straight left hand lands clean upstairs for Spence this time. Porter charges in with several shots and Spence tries to counter but falls off balance into the ropes. Round 3: Porter feints and Spence flicks out a couple of jabs. Porter jumps in and throws several shots with Spence on the ropes. Spence comes forward and lands a hard left hand to the body. Spence pushes Porter into the ropes and lands a couple of low blows. Spence lands a jab. Hard left to the body lands for Spence. Another left to the body lands low for Spence. Porter charges back and throws punches wherever he can land them! Both fighters are trading punches and another punch from Spence lands low. The referee warns Spence about his shots straying low. Straight right hand lands clean for Porter. I’m going to edge this round to Porter but it was close. Porter 10-9.
Round 4: Porter starts with a flurry of punches that put Spence on the defensive. Porter continues to attack and lands an overhand right upstairs. Now Porter lands a left hand on the inside as he works Spence. Spence comes back and lands a left uppercut to the body. Right hand lead lands for Porter twice. Good two-way action in this fight! Hard left hand lands upstairs for Spence. Another left lands for Porter and he continues to work Spence with both hands! Right hand lands to the body for Porter. Left to the body touches Porter downstairs. Jab lands upstairs for Spence, Porter lands a left hook behind Spence’s guard, then throws another flurry while Spence covers up! Spence lands a left hook upstairs. Porter seems to just be flooding Spence with his pace. Porter 10-9, 39-37.
Round 5: Spence comes out stalking and Porter pushes him back with several punches. Straight left lands to the body for Spence, then another. Counter right uppercut lands for Porter to the body. Spence lands a counter left but Porter counters the counter with a combination. Jab lands for Spence. Now Spence misses on a big left hook. Spence lands a jab and then steps out of range of Porter’s counter. Straight left to the body lands for Spence. Porter tries to mount an attack with Spence along the ropes but doesn’t land much clean. Spence lands a clean jab. Porter rushes Spence to the ropes and throws a couple of body shots. Spence lands a clean counter to the body, then one more. Spence 10-9.
Round 6: Spence comes out with a quick attack and digs down to the body with a number of hard body shots as Spence tries to turn the tables on Porter! Porter spins Spence and gets him back on the ropes and attacks back! Can you say Fight of the Year candidate?! Straight left lands to the body for Spence. Spence gets warned for holding Porter’s head down. Short body shot lands on the inside for Spence. Spence making a concerted effort to target the body and take it out of Porter. Both fighters trade body shots and Porter continues to throws as Spence tries to granb hold. Spence lands a counter left hand. Spence 10-9, 57-57.
Round 7: Porter comes out with a hard feint but takes a jab from Spence. Spence jabs upstairs and then ducks a counter from Porter. Hard body shots land for Porter as he mauls Spence along the ropes. Now Porter gets on his toes and dances around the ring before throwing a few jabs that land clean on Spence’s face. Another attack lands well for Porter who is landing clean on Spence. Spence pushes Porter to the ropes and throws a left to the body. Porter digs down with him and they both throw body punches. Porter probes with a couple of straight rights and then Porter throws a flurry of punches while Spence covers up. Porter 10-9.
Round 8: Spence falls short on a jab. Now Spence lands a jab upstairs. Porter charges in with a flurry of punches but Spence mostly defends the onslaught. Straight left lands to the body for Spence and Porter takes a step back. Counter left to the body lands for Spence. Porter slips a jab and then comes forward with four punches before pushing Spence into the ropes. Left hand lands for Spence. Right hand lands over the top for Porter. Porter slips several shots and then lands a counter right upstairs! Right hand lands over the top for Porter again. Spence gets in a right hand right before the bell. Close, close round. I’m going with Porter again, I think he’s just outworking Spence. Porter 10-9, 77-75.
Round 9: Porter jabs upstairs and then lands one to the body. Left to the body just misses for Porter. Counter left hand lands upstairs for Porter. Straight left lands for Spence. Straight left hand from Spence knocks Porter back for a moment. Porter comes right back with an uppercut and a clean jab. Porter slips out of the corner and gets back to center ring. Straight right lands for Porter as Spence digs to the body. Both fighters continue to trade and both continue to land. Both fighters trade hooks on the inside and Spence lands a hard left hook. Porter takes the shot and throws a left hook himself! Porter continues to throw and they both trade body shots. Fuck this, I’m scoring this round a draw, 10-10.
Round 10: Spence lands a jab and Porter immediately counters with a short combination that doesn’t land so clean. Two body shots land for Spence on the inside. Spence lands a counter right hand. Porter continues to throw with both hands and there’s been no breaks in the action in this fight! Porter might be the most well conditioned boxer I’ve seen with this pace and tenacity. Two body shots land for Spence who leans on Porter on the ropes and throws to the body. Porter throws Spence off him and gets back to center ring where they both throw body shots in a phone booth! Counter left lands for Spence. Porter misses on a wide right hook. Spence walks forward and lands a clean left hand upstairs. Porter throws punches in bunches at the bell as Spence counters back. I’m going to edge this round to Spence with the clean body shots. Spence 10-9, 95-96.
Round 11: Both fighters pick up where they left off by trading shots on the inside. The crowd starts chanting for Porter! Spence misses on a left hand after Porter lands a jab. Straight left hand lands for Spence. Jab lands for Spence. Two body shots land for Spence but Porter comes back and tries to throw a bunch more punches and the fighters slug it out along the ropes until a break is called. Straight left hand lands to the body for Spence. Right hook lands upstairs for Spence. Jab lands upstairs for Spence. SPENCE CATCHES PORTER ON THE INSIDE WITH A LEFT HOOK AND DROPS PORTER! Porter gets up and says ‘Let’s Go!’. Spence lands a hook and Porter charges forward while throwing punches with both hands. Spence tries to counter but Porter continue to let his hands fly. Spence 10-8.
Round 12: The fight could be on the line right here in the final round! Both fighters touch gloves. Porter lands a counter right. Spence lands a body shot but Porter comes back upstairs. Hard body shot lands for Spence with Porter on the ropes. Porter mauls Spence on the ropes and misses with a couple shots. Porter turns Spence to the ropes and throws a right hand. Right hand lands clean for Porter upstairs! Spence stands in and pushes Porter to the ropes. Porter ducks and spins, putting Spence on the ropes! Left hand lands for Spence but Porter gets in a clean right hand in return. Both fighters trade shots but Spence laets go a couple of hard shots as Porter tries to find space to return fire. What a helluva fight! Spence 10-9. I’ve got it close for Spence 115-113.
Anthony Dirrell vs David Benavidez
Round 1: Dirrell misses on a jab to start the fight. Benavidez looks noticeably larger than Dirrell and Dirrell is aware of it. Benavidez stalk forward and misses on a right hand. Jab from Benavidez just misses. Straight right hand from Benavidez partially lands. Right hand to the body misses for Dirrell. Hard right hand lands to the body for Benavidez. Jab from Benavidez partially lands. Jab to the body lands for Benavidez. Dirrell lands a right to the body but Benavidez just walks through it. Two punches from Benavidez graze Dirrell. Dirrell throws a couple of shots back as Benavidez covers up. Right hand partially lands to the body for Dirrell. Benavidez misses on two shots as Dirrell skirts to the side. Round 7: Benavidez looks to walk Dirrell down and Dirrell tries to meet him with a stiff jab. Lead right hand from Dirrell gets blocked. Right hand from Benavidez just misses. Overhand right from Dirrell glances off Benavidez’s guard. Hard left hook lands low on Benavidez. Referee calls a quick timeout to give Benavidez a second to compose himself. Dirrell has to retreat as his vision is badly impared and the referee calls another timeout to have the cut evaluated and the doctor says it’s still okay to continue. Round 8: Yet another evaluation of Dirrell’s eye and they decide to still let it go forward. Dirrell comes to center ring and turns southpaw. Dirrell attacks with a couple of punches but lands a low blow that he gets warned for. Benavidez walks Dirrell down but Dirrell gets off first with a couple of punches. Dirrell gets warned for holding on the inside. Left hook lands right on Dirrell’s cut and Benavidez follows it up with a flurry of punches. Straight left the body lands for Dirrell from the southpaw stance. Two left hands land upstairs for Benavidez. More left hooks land for Benavidez on the inside. Benavidez 10-9, 78-74.
Round 9: Straight left hand lands for Dirrell, who now turns back to his orthodox stance. Hard combination comes from Benavidez with Dirrell along the ropes. Dirrell counters with a couple of shots but Benavidez is pouring it on as Dirrell can hardly see. Jab lands clean for Benavidez. Left uppercut lands for Benavidez, who then adds some more shots as Dirrell is a beaten man and runs to the other side of the ring. This fight should be stopped here. The corner throws in the towel! Mario Barrios vs Batyr Akhmedov
Round 1: Akhmedov misses on a opening jab. Both fighters try to establish their range with jabs at center ring. Counter right hand falls just short for Barrios. Left hand lands to the body for Akhmedov. Jab lands upstairs for Barrios. Combination comes from Akhmedov at center ring. Barrios just misses on a jab. Jab lands for Barrios upstairs. Barrios is fighting a disciplined fight from the outside. Barrios lands a clean left uppercut. Barrios 10-9.
Round 2: Jab falls short for Barrios. Now Barrios misses on a right hand. Barrios partially lands a jab this time. Right hand lands to the body for Barrios. Akhmedov looks like he’s having a hard time dealing with the height and reach of Barrios. Left lands to the body for Akhmedov as he pivots to his right. Jab lands to the body for Akhmedov this time. Counter hook just misses from Barrios. I think Barrios is controlling this fight from the outside. Barrios 10-9, 20-18.

Barrios tries to step back to a range he’s comfortable with but he doesn’t have the legs to sustain it. Akhmedov steps in and lands a straight left hand. Right hand lands upstairs for Akhmedov. Counter right hand lands for Barrios. Akhmedov lands a clean jab upstairs. Akhmedov 10-9, 55-58.

Once Barrios lost his legs he hasn’t been able to effectively keep Akhmedov at a range where he was completely dominating him early. Akhmedov lands a couple of body shots that back Barrios off. Akhmedov whacks away at Barrios to the body. Now Barrios lands a clean right hand counter upstairs — he better be careful. Akhmedov continues to walk Barrios down and backs him to the ropes and throws a couple of shots upstairs, then downstairs. Akhmedov 10-9.
Round 10: Akhmedov lands a counter jab to start the round and then gets right back to work. Straight left to the body lands for Akhmedov and Barrios takes another step back. Akhmedov lands another left to the body and then puts in a couple of left hands upstairs. Akhmedov is just grinding Barrios down and working him upstairs and downstairs. Akhmedov gets warned for illegal use of his head on the inside. Akhmedov comes in and works with both ands and then lands a right hook upstairs. Barrios has really bad body language, I’ve been saying it since a few rounds ago. Akhmedov presses Barrios and Akhmedov lands a right jab upstairs. Barrios lands a counter to the body but his eye is looking worse now. Right hand lands for Akhmedov upstairs, then a left hand. Two more shots from Akhmedov make Barrios grab hold. Hard left hand from Akhmedov stuns Barrios! Akhmedov lands a clean one to the body now. One last shot from Akhmedov lands at the bell. Akhmedov 10-9, 95-94.
Round 11: Akhmedov’s corner is feeling the momentum and beg for him to keep it up for these last two rounds! Akhmedov comes right agter Barrios and he lands a big shot right away, then another one right after. Barrios is taking a beating now, simply fighting back off pride. Akhmedov stalks and lands a clean left hand upstairs, then a right hook. Barrios can’t keep Akhmedov off him and Akhmedov lands a clean left hand upstairs. Right jab lands for Akhmedov. Left hand lands clean for Akhmedov. Barrios’ defense has gone to hell. Left hand lead glances off Barrios’ head. Another left hand lands clean for Akhmedov upstairs. Akhmedov jumps in and mauls Barrios some more. Akhmedov throws with both hands and Barrios just can’t keep pace with him. Akhmedov 10-9.
Round 12: Last round. Whatever Barrios has left, he needs to bring it to bear right now. Akhmedov comes out on the hunt and misses on a left hand upstairs. Counter right hand lands for Barrios. Left hand lands upstairs for Akhmedov, then a right hook. Akhmedov gets in a little headbutt on the inside for good measure. Akhmedov comes in and lands a right hand and then throws with both hands. Barrios throws a right hand in return, but then has to take a step back. Barrios’ looks really bad — I mean his face is fucked up! Left hand lands for Akhmedov, then a right hand. Straight left to the body lands for Akhmedov, who then puts in a looping left hand for good measure. Check hook from Barrios partially lands. Akhmedov steps out of range as Barrios throws a right hand to the body. COUNTER FROM BARRIOS MAKES AKHMEDOV STUMBLE AND TOUCH THE CANVAS! Josesito Lopez vs John Molina Jr.
Round 1: Lopez partiallyl ands a jab to the body to start the fight, then throws another that comes up a little short. HARD OVERHAND RIGHT FROM LOPEZ STUNS MOLINA AND THE FOLLOW UP PUTS MOLINA DOWN! Molina beats the count and Lopez press forward and throws two shots and eats a counter from Molina. Double left comes from Lopez and makes solid contact. Another double left to the body lands for Lopez but Molina takes the shots and lands one in return. Hard right hand lands for Lopez and staggers Molina again. Molina is badly hurt and trying to roll the shots but takes a body shot and goes down again! Molina just barely beats the count and wants to continue. Right hand lands again for Lopez who is coming in for the kill. Molina lands a clean shot and gets tangled and falls down on a slip. Lopez 10-7.
Round 2: Molina is looking every bit like a shopworn fighter, though he still has his trademark heart. Lopez lands a jab upstairs. Molina flicks a jab that falls a little short. Right hand lead lands clean for Lopez again! Molina can’t get out of the way of that right hand from Lopez with his left hand so low, and slow. Right hand lands upstairs for Lopez again, who then follows it up with a combination that ends to the body. Right hand lands over the top again and Molina eats the shots and lands two hooks in return! Jab lands to the bod for Lopez. Another combination comes from Lopez, who is just touching Molina at will. Right hand lead lands yet again for Lopez. Lopez lands a clean jab upstairs now, then throws another followed by a grazing right hand. Lopez 10-9, 20-16.

Right hand lands for Molina, followed by a couple more shots right after — some of his best work of the night. Right hand falls short for Molina. Right hand lands well for Lopez who then strafes Molina along the ropes. Molina lands a counter but or two but Lopez stands and fires a couple more. Right hand to the body partially lands for Molina. Now Lopez lands to the body. Molina lands a few shorts in quick succession as he presses Lopez backwards. Sharp kab lands for Lopez upstairs. Two more jabs land for Lopez. Molina lands a counter right hook. This was Molina’s best round but I still think Lopez edged it. Lopez 10-9.
Round 6: Two jabs land upstairs for Lopez. Now both fighters trade big shots at center ring. Hard right hand lands over the top and makes Molina hunch over. Molina can’t keep taking those right hands over and over again. Right hand lands well for Molina this time. Lopez lands a jab to the body. Right hand lead lands again for Lopez as part of a three-punch combination. Lopez jabs to the body. Molina throws a sweeping right hand that partially lands. Jab to the body lands clean for Lopez again. Three jabs come from Lopez. Lopez throws a short combination before trying up Molina. Molina whiffs on a big right hand. Lopez 10-9, 60-52.
Round 7: Both fighters throws a few jabs at one another but neither land much cleanly. Rare right hand lead misses for Lopez. Now Lopez throws three punches to the head and body. Molina lands a clean right hand. Jab lands clean for Lopez. Two jabs land clean for Lopez, then a right hand that puts Molina on the ropes again. Molina tries to bait Lopez into rushing in but then just starts pressing forward again, only to walk into an onslaught from Lopez. Molina eats several hard shots but stands in there. TWO CLEAN SHOTS SHAKE UP MOLINA AND DROP HIM! Molina beats the count and Lopez throws a couple shots. Hard shots land for Lopez right before the bell. Lopez 10-8.
Round 8: They’re going to give Molina a chance here but on a short leash. Molina leads with a right hand that misses. Jab lands for Lopez. Right hand lands over the top for Lopez, then another! Molina fires back but Lopez keeps throwing and the referee steps in to stop it! Lopez KO-8.

The co-feature will see Anthony Dirrell defend the WBC super middleweight title against David Benavidez, and we’ll also have a vacant secondary title on the line at 140 between Mario Barrios and Batyr Akhmedov.
