Three-time world title challenger Vanes Martirosyan was arrested earlier this month after allegedly assaulting his wife during what “started as a verbal fight.” According to TMZ, whose article is infested with extraneous ellipses:
We’re told the 5-foot-11, 175-pound boxer allegedly grabbed his wife by the arm and is believed to have headbutted her square in the face.
We’re told she was able to flee the home ... and after cops showed up to the scene, they found her with a bruise on her arm and a messed-up nose.
Our sources say she declined medical aid ... but a police report was taken, and Martirosyan was arrested the next morning. He was booked for felony domestic violence.
He was released later that day on $50,000 bail.
Martirosyan (36-4-1, 21 KO), who unsuccessfully challenged Demetrius Andrade, Erislandy Lara, and Gennadiy Golovkin for their respective titles, has not fought since falling to “GGG” in May of last year. The root cause seems to be manager Don King, whom he signed with in 2017 and whom Martirosyan insists has screwed him over royally. Scorpion, frog, etc.
Whatever the case, there’s now another self-imposed obstacle between Martirosyan and the ring.
