In this week’s only boxing card of note, former super bantamweight title challenger Azat Hovhannisyan ran roughshod over fellow Rey Vargas victim Franklin Manzanilla last night to cap off the latest Golden Boy DAZN Thursday Night Fights card.

Though both men entered the ring known for their finishing ability, Hovhannisyan (18-3, 15 KO) had little issue with Manzanilla’s (18-6, 17 KO) power, unleashing his customary aggressive onslaught until the Venezuelan bruiser went to a knee under a fourth-round flurry.

Some highlights from Golden Boy’s Twitter:

This fight was apparently a WBA eliminator, though “Crazy A” will have to wait a while. Champion Daniel Roman pulled out of his upcoming title defense against Murodjon Akhmadaliev with tendinitis in his shoulder, which will keep him out of training for several weeks. That said, Hovhannisyan made it clear that he’s happy to rematch Rey Vargas or challenge Emanuel Navarrete instead.

All three would make for some quality action, so here’s hoping one of them answers the call.
