Julian Williams vs Jeison Rosario
Round 1: Lead left hook makes contact for Rosario right away. Williams slips a jab and then goes to the body with a right hand. Williams jabs and then lands a clean right hand over the top. Jab lands clean for Williams. Counter left uppercut lands for Williams to the body. More jabs come from Williams which Keeps Rosario’s hands at home. Right hand from Williams makes contact again as he steps over. Hard left hook to the body lands for Rosario. Double jab comes fro Williams again. Williams boxing well early. Williams 10-9.
Round 2: Jab lands for Williams to start the round, then another stiff one just moments later. Now Williams goes down to the body with a right hand. Rosario throws two big hooks to the body but can’t land them well. Williams jabs to the body this time. Rosario gets in a body shot this time but Williams gets right back to his jab. Right hand lands to the body for Williams. Two body shots land for Williams but Williams looks like he’s bleeding from his left eye now. Williams takes a jab and a right hand from Rosario. Counter right hand lands clean for Rosario this time. Left lands to the body for Rosario. Another combination comes from Rosario at the bell. Rosario obviously did some damage here even though I thought Williams fought well. Rosario 10-9, 19-19.
Round 3: Jab from Williams doesn’t find the mark. Double jab comes from Rosario this time but doesn’t land that well. Jab lands for Rosario, then another. Williams might have his vision a little impaired from that cut. Jab lands clean upstairs for Williams. Rosario lands a couple good body shots. Right hand lands clean for Rosario upstairs. Now Williams gets in his own right hand to answer Rosario. Uppercut from Rosario makes partial contact. Both fighters trade shots this time. Right hand gets in for Williams again. I’m going to edge this to Williams but he looks a little distressed. Williams 10-9.
Round 4: Williams misses on a lead left hook. Williams pops a jab and then lands the second. Williams lands another jab but takes one in return. Right hook lands upstairs for Williams, then a clean jab but Rosario lands his own jab. Uppercut lands clean for Williams but Rosario stands in and tries to get leverage on a power shot that doesn’t land clean. Clean counter right hand lands well for Rosario this time. Jab lands for Rosario. Left hook lands to the body for Rosario this time, then a right hand upstairs. Rosario lands another jab and Williams steps in and misses with a left hook. Williams steps forward now and walks into a left to the body. Rosario 10-9, 38-38.
Round 5: Both fighters trade jabs and Williams steps off the line and lands a stiff one. Williams lands a right hand but takes a heavier shot from Rosario that shakes Williams up! Williams is on unsteady legs and staggered badly! Rosario is pouring it on and Williams takes a tumble to the canvas! No knockdown as it’s a push but Williams looks in bad shape here. Hard shot lands for Rosario who then lands a clean uppercut and Williams staggers along the ropes and the referee steps in to stop it! Rosario with the huge upset! Rosario TKO-5.
Chris Colbert vs Jezzrel Corrales
Round 1: Colbert feints a few times and both fighters unload but neither land in the exchange. Straight left hand lands clean to the body for Corrales. Jab from Colbert makes partial contact. Another clean straight left lands to the body for Corrales. Jab from Colbert doesn’t find the mark upstairs. Both fighters trade and make a little contact. Another exchange and Corrales gets pushed down. Left hand glances off Corrales’ head. Colbert misses on a left hook aimed at the head. That’s a close round but I think Colbert just steals it with his more active jab. Colbert 10-9.
Round 2: Colbert comes out southpaw in this round and misses on a couple jabs upstairs. Corrales lands a shot upstairs at the end of an exchange. Double jab comes fro Colbert. Colbert goes back to orthodox and both fighters feint at center ring without throwing much. Corrales lands a glancing left hand. Both fighters trade body shots with Colbert along the ropes. Clean combination lands to the head and body for Corrales. Another clean left hand lands to the body for Corrales, then another. Corrales 10-9, 19-19.
Round 3: Colbert falls short on a jab. Check right hook makes contact for Corrales. Colbert tries to press forward and land a big right to the body but it doesn’t land so clean. Counter left hand lands for Corrales. Another clean left hand lands upstairs for Corrales. Colbert land a body shot but Corrales ducks the rest of the combination. Counter left hand lands upstairs for Corrales again. Colbert lands a right hand to the body. Slow, slow action now and the crowd doesn’t like it. Corrales ducks two more shots from Colbert. I think Corrales landed the better of the few landed shots this round. Corrales 10-9.
Round 4: Colbert tries a quick jab but can’t quite find the target. A few more quick shots come from Colbert but he still doesn’t land them clean. Now Colbert lands a left hand upstairs and gets in a body shot. Left hand from Corrales makes partial contact to the body. Jab from Colbert gets slipped by Corrales, who hasn’t mounted much of an offense this round. Straight left lands clean to the body for Corrales, who then pivots and partially lands a right hook. Right hand from Colbert makes contact upstairs. Colbert 10-9, 38-38.
Round 5: Both fighters fence with their jabs but neithr land. Counter right hand makes a little contact for Corrales. Clean left counter lands for Corrales this time. Straight left lands to the body for Corrales. Colbert misses on a wide left hook aimed for the head. Colbert throws more wide lead hooks that Corrales ducks. Jab makes contact for Colbert. Colbert gets tangled up with Corrales and hits the canvas at the end of the round. Colbert 10-9.
Round 6: Clean right hand lands in between a couple shots from Corrales. Corrales misses on a wide left hook. Corrales throws a left hand that doesn’t land clean, but then partially lands another. Double jab from Colbert keeps Corrales occupied. Corrales just isn’t throwing enough, even if he is doing pretty well defensively. Straight left to the body lands clean for Corrales but I still don’t think he’s doing enough. Colbert 10-9, 58-56.
Round 7: Colbert feints and misses on a left hand upstairs. Straight left lands to the body for Corrales. Another left hand finds a home to the body for Corrales. Colbert covers up and walks forward waits for Corrales to throw but Corrales doesn’t want to lead. Clean left hand lands for Corrales to the head and Colbert taps his gloves together. Corrales misses on the next straight left hand. Colbert throws a short combination but doesn’t really land anything clean. I think Corrales landed the best shot of the round. Corrales 10-9. 66-67.
Round 8: Colbert misses on a check hook. Straight left finds a home for Corrales but Colbert lands his own shot and then lands a few good shots on the inside. Colbert showboating in the ring as the fighters pose at each other at center ring. Colbert gets in a right hand upstairs as Corrales looks to the body. Uppercut lands clean for Colbert, then a straight right. Colbert 10-9, 77-75.
Round 9: Corrales misses on a left hand to the body. Straight left lands clean for Corrales this time to the head. Corrales misses on the next left hand and ends up in a clinch. Lead right hook misses for Colbert. Clean combination makes contact to the body for Corrales. Another combination comes from Corrales as Colbert covers up. Referee warns Corrales about holding twice in a short period of time. Sloppy round but I still think Corrales landed the cleaner shots this round. Corrales 10-9.
Round 10: Right hand lands to the body for Colbert. Left hand lands upstairs for Colbert. Corrales jabs to the body and then ducks a right hook from Colbert but Colbert catches Corrales with a right hook that puts Corrales down. Corrales gets up and doesn’t seem to be badly huurt but he’s going to tie up to makes sure he’s ready to go again and now Corrales is in the pocket. Colbert strafes Corrales to the body and then lands a short left hook upstairs. Right hand lands to the body for Corrales. Colbert 10-8, 96-93.
Round 11: Jab lands for Colbert. Corrales lands a right hand to the body at the end of a combination. Corrales throws a combination that doesn’t land well and Colbert gets in a clean shot in return. Jab lands for Corrales this time but Colbert walks through it and lands a left hook. Another clean shot from Colbert gets Corrales’ attention. Right hook lands for Corrales as Colbert puts the earmuffs on. Left hand lands for Colbert who tries to go wild and basically throws Corrales through the ropes. Colbert 10-9.
Round 12: Jab lands for Corrales upstairs. Left hook from Colbert clips Corrales on the top of the head. A lot more holding but Corrales is staying on the outside and throwing straight shots to the body as Colbert covers up behind a tight guard. Colbert pushes Corrales down again but immediately helps him back to his feet. Colbert throws a couple more hooks but doesn’t land them that well. Colbert lands a right hand at the bell and the fighters hug it out right after. Colbert 10-9. I’ve got it for Colbert 116-111.
Joey Spencer vs Erik Spring
Round 1: Spencer comes out to center ring and geints before Spring throws a jab to the body. Spencer presses forward slowly and misses on a wide right hook. Spencer gets Spring towards the ropes but Spring is able to circle out and partially lands a straight left hand from his southpaw stance. Right hand from Spencer grazes the body. Jab lands upstairs for Spencer. Uppercut lands for Spencer this time and shakes up Springs legs for a second. Big right hand from Spencer makes partial contact. Two more right hands come from Spencer that make some contact. Spencer 10-9.
Round 2: Spring falls short on a jab and then measures with another. Straight lef to the body falls short for Spring. Spencer misses on a short combination. Spencer jabs upstairs twice but doesn’t make much contact. Right hand lands upstairs for Spencer this time. Two hooks miss for Spencer now and it’s easy to see that Spring is on the defensive. Counter left hook lands clean for Spencer now before both fighters trade shots seconds later. Check hook knocks Spring over and his glove hits the canvas but the referee somehow rules it a slip, but it was more of a push. Spencer 10-9, 20-18.
Round 3: Both fighters pose at center ring for a bit before Spencer throws a big shot that makes Spring take a step back. Jab lands upstairs for Spencer. Straight left to the body fro Spring doesn’t land. Right hook lands upstairs for Spencer. Spring tries to step forward but he doesn’t have to power to exchange with Spencer. Right hook from Spencer gets blocked by Spring this time. Short combination from Spencer lands pretty well as Spring bounces off the ropes. Two left hooks land downstairs for Spencer at the bell. Spencer 10-9.
Round 4: Spencer tries to time a big right hand counter that doesn’t land well. Spring comes forward and Spencer tries to counter again but neither fighter lands a clean shot. Right hook from Spencer gets caught on Spring’s guard. Double left hook lands well for Spencer now. Left to the body makes a little contact for Spring and Spencer steps back and pivotes off the ropes. Right hook from Spencer gets blocked again. Counter jab lands well for Spencer this time. Spencer throws a lead right that backs Spring off. Spencer 10-9, 40-36.
Round 5: Spring tries to look for a left hand but doesn’t throw it with any authority. Short combination comes from Spencer as Spring covers up. Spring throws a lead left but eats a counter on his way in. Jab misses for Spencer. Lead left hook from Spencer makes partial contact. Spring falls a little short on a left hand to the body. Left hook lands clean for Spencer to the head. Right hand lead lands clean for Spencer now. Spencer 10-9.
Round 6: Last round of what has been a pretty cagey fight. Spring misses on a jab and steps forward as Spencer looks for a right hand that doesn’t present itself. Check hook from Spencer makes contact, then a clean right hand. Two punches come from Spencer but land on Spring’s gloves. Two hooks come from Spencer after a break that catch Spring unprepared. Spring lands a left hand. Both fighters trade body shots on the inside. Right hand and left hook land hard for Spencer and knock Spring around just before the final bell rings. Spencer 10-9. The co-feature will see junior lightweight prospect step up against former titleholder Jezzrel Corrales in a 12-round bout for an interim WBA title, and junior middleweight prospect Joey Spencer will compete in a six-round fight.
There will be prelim bouts on FS1 at 6:30 pm ET, featuring prospects Vito Mielnicki Jr and Romuel Cruz in separate bouts, plus a featured 10-round 154-pound fight between veterans Jorge Cota and Thomas LaManna.
