For last Tuesday’s Big Question, we asked your pick for No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the game, following Vasiliy Lomachenko’s loss to Teofimo Lopez. Lomachenko certainly wasn’t a completely unanimous No. 1 pick — no one really ever is, someone is out there insisting it’s somebody else — but he was the majority pick.
Now, though? It’s more up in the air than it has been in a while, with a lot of opinions. 41 percent of you went with Canelo Alvarez, who also sits in the No. 1 spot in my weekly rankings. But there’s strong support for Terence “Bud” Crawford (25 percent) and Naoya Inoue (22 percent), as well. Errol Spence Jr (5 percent), Teofimo Lopez (2 percent), and Other (6 percent) lagged well behind, so it’s really a three-man race. It’s an interesting time, I think.
This week, Inoue is in the conversation again. This Saturday, Oct. 31, we’ve got three big main events coming from London, Las Vegas, and San Antonio:
- Streaming on DAZN (2 pm ET), Oleksandr Usyk will face Derek Chisora in a Matchroom heavyweight main event at The SSE Arena, Wembley.
- Streaming on ESPN+ (7:30 pm ET), Naoya Inoue makes his Top Rank debut, defending two bantamweight titles against Jason Moloney.
- Airing on Showtime PPV (9 pm ET), Gervonta Davis takes on Leo Santa Cruz for titles at 130 and 135 pounds, with a limit of 130, obviously.
Everything here is behind some level of paywall, of course, but there are big differences between the ESPN+ and DAZN cards (or even Sky Box Office if you’re in the UK for Usyk-Chisora) and the $75 for the Davis-Santa Cruz PPV.
But let’s just focus on the fights here, as much as you can. What fight is the one you most want to see? I think there’s some intrigue in all of them for different reasons, but maybe you think one is the clear best of the group.
