Santa Cruz knows he’s in a dangerous fight, but says that’s exactly what it’ll take for him to earn his respect.

130lb titleholder Leo Santa Cruz is well aware that he heads into this weekend’s fight as the underdog, acknowledging that Gervonta Davis has a lot of physical gifts that represent real danger for him. But still, Santa Cruz said he was the one who sought out this matchup as he wanted to prove his mettle to the world.

From RingTV:

“He’s a big hitter, I’m a smaller guy, but I know Gervonta didn’t ask for this fight. I’m the one who asked for this fight. They made this fight and I just want to prove myself. I want to fight the best and who better to fight than Gervonta Davis? I want to go out there and give him a great fight.”

How to Watch Davis vs Santa Cruz

Date: Saturday, Oct. 31 | Start Time: 9:00 pm ET
Location: Alamodome, San Antonio, TX
TV: Showtime PPV | Stream: Showtime.com
Live Online Coverage: BadLeftHook.com

Santa Cruz would continue by saying that he’s demonstrated his ability to take a punch, and says we’ll see this weekend if he can also take the power of Davis. Should Santa Cruz be able to cope with that power, he sees the fight going all 12 rounds with him taking a decision over Tank.

For training camp Santa Cruz has largely being trained by older brother Antonio, who says Leo’s power and strength have both gone up in preparation for this fight. That’ll have to show itself in the fight as Santa Cruz will be facing the biggest puncher of his career.
