This Friday’s Daniel Jacobs-Gabriel Rosado DAZN show, which lost its co-feature to COVID this past Friday, took another hit yesterday. Dan Rafael reports that middleweight prospect Alexis Espino is out of his six-round clash with Ashton Sykes after one of his cornermen tested positive.
Steve Kim claims that he may land on the December 19th Canelo-Smith card instead.
Espino (6-0, 4 KO), who turns 21 in January, was slated to make his first appearance of the pandemic era, having previously picked up wins in January and February. Sykes (5-3, 1 KO) last saw action in March, winning a four-round decision over Isaiah Hart on a regional show.

The card still features a number of noteworthy Matchroom up-and-comers, including Mahammadrasul Majidov, Nikita Ababiy, and Daniyar Yeleussinov. The consistently unlucky Marc Castro was set to appear as well, only for an ankle injury to scrap yet another planned professional debut.
At least it wasn’t the main event or Yeleussinov’s fight with Julius Indongo. Let’s hope this card can limp over the finish line.
