Unfortunately, we won’t be seeing rising knockout machine Serhii Bohachuk in Thursday’s Ring City USA main event. Mike Coppinger reports that the 25-year-old is out with illness, leaving Sonny Duversonne to take his place against Brandon Adams.
Duversonne (11-2-2, 8 KO), a longtime Florida club fighter, has lost two straight in the last two months, but that’s not nearly as bad as it looks on paper. He scored a flash knockdown on prospect Lorenzo Simpson in October, then deserved the win against the heavily favored Chordale Booker a month later. He should give Contender winner Adams (21-3, 13 KO), over whom he boasts an insane 10-inch reach advantage, a solid fight, even if losing the all-action Bohachuk knocks off a solid chunk of the show’s appeal.
The card also features a welterweight clash between unbeaten Brian Ceballo and once-beaten Larry Gomez, plus Armenian finisher Gor Yeritsyan against Mexican journeyman Mahonri Montes
