Showtime’s December 19th Nonito Donaire-Emmanuel Rodriguez card may need some restructuring, as Thomas Dulorme has tested positive for COVID ahead of his clash with Jaron Ennis. Jake Donovan reports that the fight is “still in play” and could go forward if subsequent tests come back negative, while Steve Kim claims that Chris Van Heerden could step in against “Boots.”

Dulorme (25-4-1, 16 KO) looked to be a solid test for Ennis (26-0, 24 KO), who’s been nothing short of monstrous during his rise through the welterweight ranks. Should the Puerto Rican veteran wind up out of commission, though, South Africa’s van Heerden (28-2-1, 12 KO) would be a pretty solid replacement. “The Heat’s” only loss in the past decade came against Errol Spence Jr., and he’s proven himself consistently successful against mid-tier welterweights.

He was last seen taking an eight-round decision over Aslanbek Kozaev on the 2019 Emanuel Navarette-Francisco De Vaca card.
