With Callum Smith ready to defend his super middleweight world title against Canelo Alvarez this Saturday, DAZN releases its second episode of 40 Days as a sneak preview to the impending battle.
In this episode we pick up where we left off, with Canelo Alvarez discusses how he’s spent his time with the sport having been shut down for a period of time during the ongoing pandemic. Canelo’s trainer, Eddie Reynoso, admits the downtime wasn’t ideal but that they’re confident in their work.
“Inactivity isn’t ideal for any fighter, much less a boxer,” says Reynoso. “But practicing and training in the gym everyday makes it much less of a problem. It makes the inactivity less disruptive.”

Meanwhile, at the Amir Khan Training Academy, Callum Smith continues to grind at his training camp as he prepares an officially short formal camp despite having been in training before the official announcement of this fight.
“I’ve been one of the lucky ones that’s been able to train over the past few months,” Smith says. “Obviously it hasn’t been ideal but you make do with what you’ve got. It’s been challenging but we’ve got around and I’m in very good shape.”
