Tyson Fury never disappoints when building the hype for a fight.

Tyson Fury is a most welcome addition to the ranks of the those pugilists on the short list of global superstars.

Now, not everyone adores his style of fighting; in the first fight with Deontay Wilder, that risk-averse manner, first making sure he was not in a position where Wilder could get a clean look at him, made for lots of boring minutes of rounds. Fury very often talks a better game than he plays, if you are the type to prefer rock ‘em sock ‘em action in the ring.

And we will have to see if Fury will offer up that sort of style in Saturday’s rematch with Wilder, as he’s promised, or if he’s engaging in savvy psychological priming, a bait-and-switch deal, in order to mess with the mental prep of Team Wilder — while also, sagely, offering possible PPV buyers more of a reason top pay for this event.

As for talking, Fury hasn’t disappointed in the lead-up to his Saturday scrap.

He’s been offering up the now-typical brand of chatter, which mixes surprise announcements, like switching from the trainer he’d hired at the end of 2017 and had been tagged as a guy who’d be one of the five best trainers by 2021; and statements which are designed to stir the pot and keep fans intrigued. Saying he’s going to go for the KO has us pondering and discussing and debating the issue on social media. And then, also, he has been free with some of that spicy talk, because he really doesn’t give a fuck.

Fury has said he’s been masturbating seven times a day to up his testosterone. He later upped it to nine, and said he’d be selling Fury-ious lube on Amazon. And did you hear the latest?

On a conference call, I asked Tyson about the first meeting with Wilder. In that fight, Fury was sent to the mat twice. Does that make him worry about his chin, or does he have confidence that the beard will hold on Saturday? Or, maybe, does he exercises to try and strengthen that chin?

“I have got confidence in me chin, but I’ve been doing a lot pussy lickin’ to strengthen me jaw up, so yeah, so yeah, I’ve been strengthenin’ the ol’ jaw up, as well.”

Confession: this was one of those times when you aren’t quite sure of what you heard, so you kind of blink and nod and move on. That’s what I did. And, really, what was going to be the follow up Fury’s offering that novel method to make sure Wilder doesn’t knock him out Saturday?

Anyway, I appreciate Fury, because he keeps it interesting, and he is never, ever boring when hyping a fight.
