Mikey Garcia bounced back at welterweight following his one-sided loss to Errol Spence Jr 11 months ago, beating Jessie Vargas by decision tonight in a DAZN main event from Frisco, Texas.
Watch Garcia vs Vargas highlights here!
Garcia (40-1, 30 KO) says he’s fit to stay at 147 from here on, and is targeting fights with Manny Pacquiao or, yes, Spence again. We’ll have to see exactly where he goes from here, of course, but there will be options. He’s got some name value, this is a solid victory to come off of, and he does have a fan base.
Twitter wasn’t exactly abuzz for this fight, in all honesty, but this is a popular feature and, well, a few pros in the game had some thoughts to share on the bout after it came to an end. So let’s check in with what they had to say. All three of them!
Only my opinion, but Mikey Garcia is an elite level fighter.

But not an elite welterweight.
Skills, all round boxing ability & ring generalship are all there but u can’t give away natural size/strength/power to the elite 147lbers.
I’d love to see him @ 135/140lbs!#GarciaVargas
I don’t think 147 is a good weight for Mikey. #GarciaVargas

congrats @mikeygarcia the judges had him lead by a landslide. He made great adjustments and set up great shots. I had the fight closer but still had him winning. Imagine him fighting a 140 pounder and landing those shots
