Luis Nery vs Aaron Alameda canceled over coronavirus concerns

The fight ends up being shut down altogether rather than postponed.

Right on the heels of the news that the Nevada State Athletic Commission will be suspending all combat events until March 25, it’s now being reported that the March 28th Showtime card headlined by Luis Nery vs Aaron Alameda has officially been canceled. Scott mentioned yesterday that it was possible the card might be postponed or otherwise held behind closed doors, but the powers that be have decided against it and will just shut it down entirely.

Nery (30-0, 24 KOs) is currently riding an 11-fight stoppage streak, most recently knocking out Juan Carlos Payano last July. Meanwhile Alameda (25-0, 13 KOs) sports an undefeated record himself, but hasn’t fought on the level of Nery and was going to come into this fight as a clear underdog.

For now we clearly can’t expect any good fights (or really any fights) for the foreseeable future, so catch up with us later this week on March 20 as we plan to hold a BLH Watch Party where we’ll catch some oldies but goodies.
