Queensberry Promotions have followed the lead of everyone else at this point, canceling a pair of upcoming events that were set for April 11 and May 2.
The April 11 card was to be headlined by Daniel Dubois vs Joe Joyce, a highly intriguing clash of very different rising heavyweight contenders. That event has already been rescheduled for July 11, and will still take place at London’s O2 Arena.
The firm have also postponed Josh Taylor’s fight in Glasgow on May 2, where the WBA and IBF junior welterweight titleholder was set to defend against Apinun Khongsong. Queensberry are working on a new date for that show, and are still looking to hold it at the SSE Hydro.
The release also notes that Queensberry and Top Rank have already worked out a deal for Carl Frampton to face Jamel Herring for Herring’s WBO junior lightweight title, and that the fight was going to be officially announced this week. That bout was expected after Frampton’s move up to 130 last November, and the rumored date was June 13 in Belfast. Everyone is hoping that will still go ahead, but like everything this is a fluid situation.
