With the coronavirus taking the world by storm, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum has decided to take some precautionary measures with his newly signed Japanese star, Naoya Inoue. Arum, citing concerns over the outbreak, says he’s going to bring Inoue and his family to the U.S. early, ahead of his April 25th fight scheduled in Las Vegas.
“We’re waiting to get his visa, which should be next week,” Arum told ESPN on Thursday afternoon, “and we’re going to immediately bring him and his family to Las Vegas.”
Inoue, 26, is most recently coming off a thrilling battle with Nonito Donaire to win the WBSS bantamweight tournament and will be taking on John Riel Casimero next to unify world titles.
And as far as some of Arum’s other plans for international cards go, the promoter maintains that while he still has a commitment to boxing in China, that’s obviously out of the question for the time being, so that he’s currently limiting himself to events in the U.K.
