Kubrat Pulev: Dillian Whyte is a disgrace to boxing

The heavyweight contender shares some harsh words for his contemporary.

Dillian Whyte has obviously been making some noise in the media for a while now, looking to land a world title shot as soon as possible, and apparently this has sort of struck a nerve with Kubrat Pulev who doesn’t think much of Whyte as a fighter or a man.

“Dillian Whyte is the biggest coward in the entire heavyweight division. He’s a disgrace to boxing,” said Pulev. “He had three chances to fight for world titles and rejected them all.

“One of them was against me for an IBF mandatory spot which Hughie Fury eventually took. And why does he want a match with Anthony Joshua now when he had the golden opportunity to fight him last May in Joshua’s last voluntary defense and turned it down? (they share the same promoter).”

Pulev continued by saying that both Whyte and Tyson Fury have the biggest mouths in the entire sport, the only difference being that he thinks Fury actually has some balls. So to that end Pulev says that once he takes care of business against unified titleholder Anthony Joshua he’ll gladly take on either fighter.

And while Pulev is expected to face Joshua next, Joshua and his promoter have been angling to get a fight with Tyson Fury for the undisputed championship. That, however, doesn’t look like it’ll gain any traction in the short term as Deontay Wilder has enacted his rematch clause with Fury for a third fight and has shown no inclination that he’d be willing to step aside.
