How did you score it?: Round 4

This time, we'll talk about what I consider to be, low-key, one of the worst robberies of the last decade.

On April 9, 2011, the legendary, at the time three division world champion (he'd eventually win a title in a fourth weight class), Erik "El Terrible" Morales fought tough and rugged Argentine brawler, Marcos "Chino" Maidana in a super lightweight non-title bout.

Most people thought Maidana, who was big at the weight, would simply maul and stop the older Morales who started his pro career at super bantamweight.

It turned out to be a competitive fight where Morales was, in my view, constantly landing the cleaner, harder shots, whereas Maidana was clubbing, often swinging at air, even though he would occasionally land a good blow or two.

In fact, I don't think it is a close fight per se, but merely a competitive affair with a clear winner, that's why I call it a robbery.

Judges Jerry Roth and Adelaide Byrd (ha!) both had it 116-112 in favour of Maidana, while Richard Houck had it 114-114, a draw, making it a majority decision win for Chino.

Here's my card:

Round 1: Maidana 10-9

Round 2: Morales 10-9

Round 3: Maidana 10-9

Round 4: Morales 10-9

Round 5: Morales 10-9

Round 6: Morales 10-9

Round 7: Morales 10-9

Round 8: Morales 10-9

Round 9: Morales 10-9

Round 10: Morales 10-9

Round 11: Maidana 10-9

Round 12: Maidana 10-9

So 8 to 4, 116-112 for Morales. I thought El Terrible dominated most of the fight using his combination punching ability particuarly well, I'll even say that Morales did a better job against Maidana than Floyd in his first fight against Chino, even though the Chino that Morales fought probably wasn't as strong as he was after he moved up to welterweight and his skills were not as sharp because he hadn't teamed up with Robert Garcia at the time, but still, an excellent performance for a supposedly way past his prime former super bantamweight.

Here's the fight, which actually starts at 26:21 if you prefer to skip the prefight stuff:

Now your turn, how did you have it?
