Jessie Magdaleno vs Yenifel Vicente
Round 1: Magdaleno comes out with a viscous combination right out the gates and gets Vicente’s attention. Straight left to the body scores for Magdaleno. Magdaleno jabs to the body but falls a little short. Vicente tries to go to the body with a right hand but Magdaleno is able to escape right after. Straight left lands to the body for Magdaleno again. Clean shot from Magdaleno puts Vicente down hard! Vicente beats the count and wants to continue. Magdaleno tries to loop a left hook but can’t find the mark. Body shot comes from Magdaleno this time. Magdaleno 10-8.
Round 2: Magdaleno jabs to the body a couple of times as he tries to establish range at center ring. Magdaleno jabs and measures his distance again before throwing a jab to the body. Wide right hand misses for Vicente. Magdaleno baits Vicente to the corner but Vicente doesn’t want to bite. Now Magdaleno gets back to center ring and throws a left hand to the body. Straight left hand lands upstairs for Magdaleno. Magdaleno 10-9, 20-17.
Round 3: Vicente comes out pressuring and ends up in a clinch right away as he gets smothered on the inside. Counter hook from Magdaleno misses upstairs. Now Magdaleno throws four punches but none of them land clean. Clean left hook lands for Vicente, his best punch of the night. Jab to the body lands for Magdaleno. Slow action in this round as both fighters aren’t eager to take the lead. Vicente partially lands a right to the body but I still feel like Magdaleno is controlling the action. Magdaleno 10-9.
Round 4: Vicente comes out pressuring again and throws a flurry of body punches before getting warned by the referee to keep the above them up. Vicente misses on a big hook upstairs. Three punches come from Magdaleno off the ropes and now Vicente lands a clear low blow that hunches Magdaleno over and as the referee comes to step in Vicente follows it up with another big shot that puts Magdaleno face down! Wow! The officials are taking some time to sort out this mess but Magdaleno is still laid out on the canvas, but now rolled over on his back. Referee will give Magdaleno 5 minutes to recover from the foul and will deduct a point from Vicente if Magdaleno can continue. Magdaleno is back on his feet and wants to continue — Vicente is deducted 2 points! Right hand comes from Vicente as Magdaleno might still be a little shaken up from that clean shot he took earlier. Another low blow is ruled by the referee and Vicente is deducted yet another point! Vicente continues to come forward and apply the pressure with Magdaleno on the ropes. Vicente 7-9 with the three point deduction.
Round 5: Vicente still applying pressure and throws to the body with a sweeping right hook that misses. Straight left hand partially lands for Magdaleno. Vicente continues to come forward and lands a straight right to the body. Magdaleno goes back to the ropes and is waiting for a counter opportunity that doesn’t present itself. Check right hook lands for Magdaleno. Hard check right hook lands perfectly for Magdaleno and puts Vicente down! Vicente gets back up and it looks like it was a flash knockdown. Magdaleno 10-8.
Round 6: Well, Vicente is down eight points on my card and I even gave him that crazy fourth round. It’s desperation time. Vicente comes forward and Magdaleno immediately ties him up. Jab to the body lands for Magdaleno. Both fighters get tied up again on the inside. Magdaleno puts himself back in another corner and waits for Vicente to lead. Magdaleno comes forward again and partially lands a right uppercut and then Magdaleno takes a slip to the canvas moments later. Four punches come from Magdaleno at the bell. Magdaleno 10-9, 59-50.
Round 7: Vicente stalks and Magdaleno ties up once he gets backed to the ropes. Two body shots land for Vicente, then a couple more before Magdaleno ties up again. Straight left hand falls a little short for Magdaleno. Right hook misses for Vicente. Straight left hand makes partial contact for Magdaleno this time. Jab lands for Vicente, who then lands a couple more punches before Magdaleno ties him up again. Clean left hand lands for Magdaleno. Vicente 10-9.
Round 8: Magdaleno comes out bouncing all over the ring before he gets back to center ring and lands a jab to the body. Vicente presses forward but misses on his shots once he has Magdaleno in the corner. Straight right to the body lands for Vicente. Three quick punches come from Magdaleno this time. Vicente tries to maul Magdaleno in the corner and gets one more warning from the referee about letting punches stray low — I didn’t see any this time. Vicente throws a series of right hands as Magdaleno covers up and eggs him on to throw more. Magdaleno 10-9, 78-69.
Round 9: Right hand to the body doesn’t land clean for Vicente. Magdaleno puts himself back along the ropes and then clinches with Vicente. Right hook lands upstairs for Magdaleno. Uppercut lands to the body for Vicente. Right hands come from Vicente again as Magdaleno covers up in the corner. Straight left hand lands for Magdaleno, then another, then one to the head. Three left hooks to the body come from Vicente but don’t land that clean. I think Vicente outworked Magdaleno in this round. Vicente 10-9.
Round 10: Right hand lands to the body for Vicente and Magdaleno goes down as he complains of a low blow — replay shows that it was in fact low. Referee calls timeout to give Magdaleno time to recover. Referee takes another point from Vicente. Left hand makes come contact for Magdaleno. Vicente loads up on right hands as he tries to swing for the fences. Left to the body lands for Vicente. Another low blow comes from Vicente and the referee finally sees enough and ends the fight by DQ. Magdaleno wins.
Adam Lopez vs Louie Coria
Round 1: Lopez throws a jab that doesn’t land. Coria comes forward behind a right hand that misses. Jab and a hook comes from Coria, who then follows it up with a couple of left hands to the body followed by a right hand upstairs. Lopez tries to mount a counter attack and lands a few hard shots back! Short left hand lands on the inside for Coria. Left hook lands upstairs for Coria this time. Now Coria goes to the body with a jab followed by an uppercut to the body. Lopez lands a shot back but Coria continues to press forward behind a two-handed attack. Clean jab lands upstairs for Coria, then a right hand. Coria has come out setting a furious pace that has Lopez under constant fire. Check hook lands for Lopez. Uppercut lands for Lopez this time but Coria comes right back. Coria 10-9.
Round 2: Double jab falls short for Lopez. Coria walks into the next jab but eats it and presses Lopez to the ropes and tries to throw with both hands. Lopez fires back and both fighters manage to land on each other. Double left hand lands for Coria. Another left hand lands for Coria on the inside. Lopez works the body with a few body shots as Coria chops down with a right hand. Right hand lands over the top for Coria again. Body shot from Lopez lands low and the referee gives him a warning. Hard right hand grazes Lopez’s body. Lopez lands a left hand at mid-range. Both fighters trade right hands and Lopez finds a home for an uppercut moments later. A couple of wide right hands find a home for Coria. Coria 10-9, 20-18.
Round 3: Coria misses on a jab to start the round. Coria presses forward and has a right hand blocked by Lopez. Lopez slips out of the corner and pops a jab and looks to start getting his boxing game going with more movement. Right hand from Lopez makes contact. Coria stands in close but he’s not landing as frequently in this round. Jab finds a home for Lopez again, then a couple more. Combination comes from Coria but he doesn’t land a lot of clean shots. Jab lands for Lopez again. Coria comes forward with a combination of punches but again doesn’t land much. Better round for Lopez. Lopez 10-9.
Round 4: Jab lands for Coria but Lopez lands several back in return. Lopez makes better use of his jab but Coria finds a home for a left to the body. Coria is having a much harder time with Lopez when he’s not in close range. Coria closes the distance but doesn’t land anything clean. Counter shot lands clean for Lopez, then a couple more. Both fighters trade jabs. Three more jabs come from Lopez. Now Lopez adds in a right hand to follow the jab. Short left uppercut lands for Lopez. Three more punches come from Lopez and snaps Coria’s head back. Lopez 10-9, 38-38.
Round 5: Lopez is bouncing on his feet well and picking off Coria with the jab almost at will. Coria comes forward and lands his own jab and a left hook. Coria continues to hunt but he’s been taking more shots in return from Lopez the past couple rounds. Jab lands clean for Lopez. Another jab lands for Lopez and Coria tries to walk through it but can’t find a target to land on. Lopez lands a clean one-two and then comes forward and puts Coria on the ropes momentarily. Jab lands again for Lopez. Two more jabs land for Lopez. Coria is trying but he blew his load in the first two rounds and can’t keep up with Lopez’s movement any longer....ESPN cut to commercial before the bell rang. Lopez 10-9, I think.
Round 6: Lopez is boxing beautifully and having his way with Coria at this point. Coria is still charging forward but mostly behind ineffective attacks. Coria is showing a little more vigor in this round thous and lands a jab upstairs. Jab lands clean for Lopez upstairs, then another. Double jab comes from Lopez. Right hand lands after another jab for Lopez. Check left hook lands on the inside for Lopez. Lopez gets back to his lateral movement and sneaks in a short body shot on the inside. Short left hook lands for Coria. Four quick punches lands for Lopez. Lopez 10-9, 58-56.
Round 7: Counter jab lands for Lopez. Both fighters trade jabs this time. Jab lands for Coria, Lopez fires back with a couple of his own. Lunging left hook misses for Coria. Lopez pivots on Coria and dodges a couple shots. Tim Bradley ridicules Coria’s inability to block a jab. Cuffing left hook makes some contact for Coria. Counter right lands for Lopez this time. Lopez throws two more jabs and then smothers Coria’s attack. Coria throws a few more punches but doesn’t land anything of significance. Lopez lands one more jab to close the round. Lopez 10-9.
Round 8: Lopez leads with a jab and Coria counters with his own. Lopez sticks another jab on the inside of Coria’s. Jab and right hand lands again for Lopez. Straight right hand to the body scores for Lopez. Coria throws a flurry of punches but not many of them land clean. Uppercut lands for Coria but he takes another shot from Lopez on the way out. Coria is using a lot of volume which is mostly carrying the round for him. Jab lands for Lopez, Coria comes back with a right hand. Both fighters trade punches to the bell. Coria 10-9, 75-77.
Round 9: Coria misses on a couple of jabs to start the round. Lopez looks to find space but Coria gets off first with some more punches. Lopez’s left eye is swollen up now but he still lets go of two punches that partially land. Both fighters trade shots again and both land some clean ones. Left hook lands on the inside for Coria. Clean uppercut lands for Lopez at close range. Now Lopez’s right eye is showing signs of distress but he’s still finding a home for his left hand. Coria digs deep and throws some clean shots. Coria might’ve edged it just a little for me. Coria 10-9.
Round 10: Lopez comes out looking like a racoon and Coria tries to get to work using both hands. Short uppercut lands on the inside for Coria. Lopez lands a counter but Coria continues to throw. Coria might have a small cut around his eye now. Body shot lands for Coria, Lopez lands in return. A lot of back-and-forth action in this fight. Coria is still throwing shots while Lopez is trying to find room to land a clean counter. Counter right to the body lands for Lopez. Clean one-two lands for Lopez. Coria comes throw and fires two punches that don’t land but he continues to throw and track down Lopez. Lopez is bleeding a lot from his nose and mouth now. Lopez definitely doesn’t look like a winner at the end of this. Coria 10-9. I’ve got it a draw, 95-95.
