U.S. Olympian Ginny Fuchs cleared of doping charges, positives blamed on sexual transmission

While investigating the tests, USADA learned Fuchs’ partner had been taking products that included the two banned substances, and the levels of Fuchs’ violations were consistent with recent exposure through sexual transmission.

Following the announcement, she spoke to Houston’s Fox 26 about the incident.

“When I was first notified back in March when I had these prohibited substances in me, I was at complete shock and had no idea where they had come from, knowing I had never ingested anything. But I’m just relieved that USADA saw my case very unique and gave me a no-fault and have cleared me. … I had no idea you could get contaminated through intimate contact, and I’ve learned a lesson about this now. I want other athletes to learn from my mistake.”

Team USA Softball player Bubba Nickles received similar exoneration.

The 32-year-old Fuchs took fourth in the 2012 Olympic Trials, then claimed victory in 2016, only to come up short in the international trials. She is one of Team USA’s 13 members gunning for a spot in the delayed Games.
