Pedraza vs LesPierre card set, fighters make weight

Thursday night’s ESPN event is ready to go.

Thursday night’s ESPN card is set, as the fighters made weight today in Las Vegas.

Jose Pedraza (26-3, 13 KO) and Mikkel LesPierre (22-1-1, 10 KO) will headline the show in a 10-round junior welterweight fight. Pedraza, a former titlist at 130 and 135, weighed in at 140.4, with LesPierre, a former title challenger at 140, coming in at 141.

All four of our staffers are picking the 31-year-old Pedraza over the 35-year-old LesPierre, but we all rationally picked Greer over Plania on Tuesday, and that didn’t turn out so well.

The co-feature bout, which will open the show at 8 pm ET, will see unbeaten prospect Gabriel Flores Jr (17-0, 6 KO) take on Josec Ruiz (21-2-3, 14 KO) in a 10-round lightweight bout. The 20-year-old Flores weighed in at 132.4, as did Ruiz, a 25-year-old originally from Nicaragua.

The potential show-stealer is a matchup between prospect David Kaminsky (6-0, 3 KO) and dual sport scrapper Clay Collard, who is 6-2-3 (2 KO) in boxing and 18-8 in mixed martial arts, including going 1-3 in a UFC stint from 2014-15. The 27-year-old Collard upset prospect Raymond Guajardo on Feb. 1 on a PBC show, and will look to repeat that here. Collard weighed in at 163.6, with the 19-year-old Kaminsky at 164.1. Given what Collard JUST did four months ago, this is actually a pretty risky bit of matchmaking by Top Rank, and shows their confidence in Kaminsky. Kaminsky-Collard is set for six rounds

There will be three more fights on the card as well:

  • Adrian Servin (9-0-1, 3 KO) vs Robert Rodriguez (7-0-1, 3 KO), bantamweights, 6 rounds
  • Frevian Gonzalez (2-0, 1 KO) vs Jose Martinez (2-0, 1 KO), junior lightweights, 4 rounds
  • Victor Rodriguez (2-0, 1 KO) vs Justin Horsley (0-1, 0 KO), junior welterweights, 4 rounds

Bad Left Hook will have full live coverage starting at 8 pm ET on Thursday, June 18.
