Bad Left Hook Boxing Rankings (June 22, 2020): Emanuel Navarrete stays put at 122

Wanheng Menayothin’s out-and-in non-retirement is really the news of the week for the rankings update.

Notes: Navarrete won a featherweight fight that gave new meaning to the terms “tune up” and “stay busy” this past Saturday. The PR people can spin that fight however they want but it meant less than nothing. Navarrete needs to fight someone in at least the top 30 or something, either here or at featherweight or wherever he’s going to be fighting from now on. The easiest halfway decent fight for him to make at 122 would probably be with Carlos Castro, though I’d love to see him fight Fulton, his WBO No. 1 contender. At 126 a fight with someone like Jessie Magdaleno should in theory be easy to make, or even the winner of this coming week’s Christopher Diaz-Jason Sanchez fight. Castro and the Diaz-Sanchez winner wouldn’t be a GREAT fight on paper, but better than what he’s been doing.

Upcoming Fights: (9) Cristofer Rosales vs Jeno Tonte, July 17 ... (10) Junto Nakatani vs Giemel Magramo, Aug. 21

Notes: The sudden retirement of Wanheng Menayothin looked to be bringing an anticlimactic end to a long run in the top spot at 105 pounds, passing the torch to countryman Knockout CP Freshmart, but then after this originally went to “print,” as it were, he deleted the announcement and apparently isn’t retired after all. So welcome back! Sorry, Nkosinathi Joyi.
