Marcos Maidana says he’s back and at his best

The Argentine slugger hasn’t fought professionally since 2014.

It looks as though Marcos Maidana is taking this comeback attempt seriously, posting thirst traps on Twitter as he plans to end his six-year retirement. “At 36 years old I’m at my best,” Maidana wrote online.

For those who don’t remember, Maidana hasn’t fought professionally since back-to-back defeats to Floyd Mayweather in 2014. But despite those losses, Maidana had earned enough money to live comfortably for the rest of his life, heading back to his native Argentina, packing on the pounds, and just generally living his best life.

After some time Maidana would get that itch again, but as he planned to return he was pushed too hard and too fast to lose all the weight he had gained over the years and ultimately broke, stalling his return. Well, now it looks like Maidana has been putting the work in as he’s aims for his official return.

And, like, I’m not going to say this photo may not have been airbrushed a bit, because I quite frankly don’t remember Maidana ever having much of a six-pack even in his heyday, but so long as he’s in good condition to fight I’m all for it.
