Unified welterweight titleholder Errol Spence claims he’s perfectly ready to jump right back into the deep end after surviving a near-death experience in a high-speed car crash last fall. Spence obviously has been out of action ever since, but has most recently been linked to a comeback fight against Danny Garcia later this year.
Plenty of folks have serious questions about what Spence will be like in the ring after that car crash, but instead of taking some time to shake the rust off with a tune-up fight (like he says his management and the WBC are okay with), he wants to pick up right where he left off. So taking to social media, Spence lets off a little steam in a series of tweets, not passing up on the opportunity to take a parting shot at Keith Thurman.
I fought my way to the position I’m in now when none of the champs wanted to let me in!..i can give a fuck about any complaints from other boxers

Had to wait 9 months then travel to foreign land & fight a guy in his home town to get in didn’t complain not once

Another thing WBC cool with me taking a tune up & my management I don’t want the shit I’ll leave that to Thurman an his get back year or whatever he said

If Spence isn’t quite the same fighter he was before the crash, a fight against Danny Garcia could prove to be more than a handful. That clearly isn’t something Spence is concerned about now though, so now we’ll just have to see whether or not that’s an error in judgement.
Do any of you think Spence could use a tune-up before facing someone like Garcia?
