Takam is coming off a decision win over Fabio Maldonado in late February.

It’s official, veteran heavyweight Carlos Takam (38-5-1, 3 KOs) has been schedule to step in to face Jerry Forrest (26-3, 20 KOs) next weekend in Las Vegas, July 9th. The fight will headline a Top Rank on ESPN card in Las Vegas. Takam will obviously be filling in for Jarrell Miller, who unthinkably tested positive for PEDs yet again — AGAIN!

Miller is saying that he didn’t knowingly take any banned substances, but then again he also used that same excuse when he flunked for several banned substances leading into a scheduled fight against Anthony Joshua. Miller would later almost revel in his new ‘bad guy’ image.

Anyway, as for Takam, he supposedly has been in training for the past several months and is ready to jump in on short notice. At 39-years-old Takam has won three straight fights since getting stopped by Anthony Joshua and Dereck Chisora in back-to-back fights. Forrest, 32, is coming off a stoppage win last September, rebounding from a split decision loss to Jermaine Franklin this time last year.
