Former Olympian and current prospect Guido Vianello may have avoided the coronavirus, but opponent Kingsley Ibeh wasn’t so lucky. “The Gladiator” announced on Twitter that their heavyweight fight on tomorrow evening’s Oscar Valdez vs Jayson Velez card is off after Ibeh tested positive for COVID-19.

Both Vianello (7-0) and Ibeh (5-1, 4 KO) were making swift turnarounds; Vianello took less than a round to dispatch Don Haynesworth on June 9th, while Ibeh picked up two wins in the span of seven days on the Moloney-Baez and Pedraza-LesPierre cards.

The Nigeria-born, Phoenix-based Ibeh joins the likes of Mikaela Mayer and Jamel Herring in Top Rank’s illness- and injury-plagued summer lineup; should Valdez and Velez make it to the ring tomorrow, they’ll be the first July main event to survive totally unscathed since its inception.

The card still features some notable tussles, including Edgar Berlanga against Eric Moon, Isaac Dogboe’s return against Chris Avalos, and the latest from Kim Clavel and Elvis Rodriguez.
