We’re officially set for tomorrow night’s feature bout with super featherweight Oscar Valdez (27-0, 21 KO) taking on Jayson Velez (29-6-1, 21 KO) in 10 rounds of action. The fighters hit scales today and before clashing at The Bubble at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Valdez, 29, officially weighed in at 129.9 pounds, right under the 130-pound limit while Velez, 32, hit the limit right on the button. Both fighters appeared to be in good condition for the fight.
Should Valdez come through this fight with a win, the current expectation is that he’ll square off with Miguel Berchelt for his world title next. That, of course, is a fight worth salivating over.
Chris Avalos had some trouble making weight for his fight with Isaac Dogboe, which will start the broadcast, weighing in at 126.6 pounds for a contracted 126-pound fight. But he did come back at 125.9, so the fight is good to go. Dogboe hit the 126-pound mark even.
Edgar Berlanga vs Eric Moon, Kim Clavel vs Natalie Gonzalez, and Elvis Rodriguez vs Dennis Okoth are all good to go, rounding out a five-fight card that will begin at 8 pm ET on ESPN.
As mentioned before, the scheduled heavyweight bout between Guido Vianello and Kingsley Ibeh is off after Ibeh tested positive for COVID-19.
