Former welterweight titleholder Shawn Porter (30-3-1, 17 KOs) will reportedly be making his way back to the ring for the first time since a split decision loss to Errol Spence last September, taking on Sebastian Formella (22-0, 10 KOs) on an August 22nd PBC card, according to Mike Coppinger’s sources.
Shawn Porter will return Aug. 22 in a PBC on FOX main event against unbeaten German Sebastian Formella, sources tell The Athletic. PBC returns on FOX on Aug. 8 with Thomas Dulorme-Jamal James

Porter, 32, at one point had his name swirling around with Terence Crawford’s — which would undoubtedly be a fun fight — but due to their personal relationship that wasn’t really either fighter’s preference. Ultimately both will be heading in different directions for now.
Formella is a 33-year-old fighter out of Germany who is most recently coming off decision wins over Thulani Mbenge and Roberto Arriaza. This, however, will be a step up in competition for him. If Formella is to ever vie for a world title, this is a fight he’s going to have to win, though Porter will almost certainly be installed as the favorite.
