Robert Diaz, the Golden Boy matchmaker, is publicly coming out to take credit for the pitiful mismatch we witnessed this past weekend when Seniesa Estrada mopped the floor with Miranda Adkins in seven seconds. While California commissioner Andy Foster took responsibility for officially sanctioning the slaughter, Diaz tells RingTV that it’s on him because he made the fight.
“It’s not fair that Andy has taken this amount of criticism. At the end of the day, he doesn’t make the fights – he is only involved in the process of approving them. I’ll take full responsibility – I was the one who made the fight.”
Diaz continues by saying that in hindsight he wouldn’t have put that fight together, but thought it would be unfair to yet again pull the plug on Estrada due to a lost opponent (Adkins ended up serving as a late replacement). And here I was thinking we should demand an immediate rematch because, ya know, first round knockouts can be fluky!
Anyway, the matchmaker would go on to say that he’s just happy that Adkins is okay, which he says is the most important thing.
