Just minutes ahead of a planned purse bid via Zoom, Eddie Hearn revealed that Ryan Garcia and Luke Campbell have reached an agreement “in principle” for their WBC-mandated interim title fight, which would see the winner face Devin Haney after the latter’s planned voluntary defense. . He requested and, along with Golden Boy’s Eric Gomez, was granted a seven-day extension to “finalize” the details; the current hope is to stage it in the US or UK by “middle-end November.”

By Hearn’s comments, the ultimate location will likely come down to the availability of live crowds. Both men are notable figures in their respective countries and could generate significant gates if given the opportunity.

It’s heartening to see tangible progress being made, especially after the recent loss of Jorge Linares vs. Javier Fortuna, the apparent collapse of Vasiliy Lomachenko vs. Teofimo Lopez, and whatever the hell is going on with Canelo. Boxing needs a win here.
