Next Wednesday’s big junior middleweight fight between Australian stars Jeff Horn and Tim Tszyu will be aired live in the United States, as ESPN+ have picked up the fight, which will stream at 5 am ET on Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Former welterweight titleholder Horn (20-2-1, 13 KO) is still best-known for his stunning and controversial upset win over Manny Pacquiao in 2017, where he won the WBO 147-pound belt. After a successful defense against Gary Corcoran, Horn was dominated by Terence Crawford in 2018, and has gone 2-1 since, beating a shot Anthony Mundine and splitting a pair of fights with Michael Zerafa in 2019.
Now 32, Horn still has a lot of star power in Australia, but he’ll face a stiff test from rising 25-year-old Tszyu (15-0, 11 KO), the son of Hall of Famer Kostya Tszyu. Tszyu last fought in Dec. 2019, smashing Jack Brubaker inside of four rounds, and has handled himself very well as a pro thus far. But Horn is also a big step up for Tszyu on paper.
Past just being a competitive matchup between a battle-tested veteran and a young fighter looking to make his mark, the styles also potentially make for a dynamite action bout.
Now that the fight has a proper, legal platform in the States, we will definitely be here for live coverage on Wednesday morning. ESPN+ will also have the next MTK Fight Night at 2 pm ET on Wednesday, featuring Lewis Crocker vs Louis Greene in the main event.
