Premier Boxing Champions officially announced three FOX broadcasts for Aug. 22, Aug. 29, and Sept. 6, plus plans for more cards.
Here’s the quick rundown of what was announced this evening:
- Aug. 22: Shawn Porter (30-3-1, 17 KO) will face Sebastian Formella (22-0, 10 KO) in some type welterweight eliminator in the main event. Formella, 33, is an unbeaten German who hasn’t been tested at all at a high level. Also on the card will be Sebastian Fundora (14-0-1, 9 KO) vs Nathaniel Gallimore (21-4-1, 17 KO), plus prospect Joey Spencer (10-0, 7 KO) in action. This show will go head-to-head with ESPN’s Eleider Alvarez-Joe Smith Jr card.
- Aug. 29: Erislandy Lara (26-3-3, 15 KO) tested the limits of FOX main event matchmaking when he faced Canelo’s hapless brother Ramon last August, and he’ll do so again matched against Greg Vendetti (22-3-1, 12 KO), a 30-year-old American fighter whose biggest chance to date came in Dec. 2018, when he went to France to get stopped in two by Michel Soro. This card will also feature Alfredo Angulo (26-7, 21 KO) vs Caleb Truax (31-4-2, 19 KO) in a meeting of veteran super middleweights, plus a third fight. This show will go head-to-head with ESPN’s Jose Ramirez-Viktor Postol card.
- Sept. 6: A Sunday night card, headlined by a fake WBA welterweight title fight between Yordenis Ugas (25-4, 12 KO) and Abel Ramos (26-3-2, 20 KO), plus two more fights.
The FOX broadcast also noted that there will be two FOX PPV cards (one is Errol Spence Jr vs Danny Garcia on Nov. 21, already announced), five FOX broadcasts counting these three (Nov. 7 and Dec. 26 will be the other dates), and 11 shows on FS1 for the remainder of 2020. Some of the FS1 shows may be attached to the five FOX broadcasts or even the PPVs.
