Another former NBA player will have a go between the ropes, as TMZ reports that former star Lamar Odom has penned a deal with Celebrity Boxing. Odom is due to make his first boxing appearance on June 12th in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Odom, 41, does not have an opponent for his boxing debut, but Celebrity Boxing creator Damon Feldman says he expects to land a notable celebrity to duke it out with with the retired ballplayer. But standing nearly seven feet tall with an even longer wingspan, it’ll be interesting to see who they’ll get to match-up with Odom.
That said, it’s no secret that Odom has had a long troubled history with substance abuse and subsequent health issues, so it’s good to see him keeping himself occupied in a productive sense, but I just don’t know this is the way to go all things considered. I suppose the good news is that this is just ‘celebrity boxing’ in any case, so Odom won’t be going up against a seriously trained professional.
