Keith Thurman says Danny Garcia a timid fighter, has struggled ever since coming to welterweight

Thurman laughs off the notion that Garcia could ever beat him in a rematch.

Former welterweight titleholder Keith Thurman is making public appearances with his new haircut and appears on a live stream to talk directly to fans. When reading one comment suggesting that Danny Garcia would handle him in a rematch, Thurman nearly got besides himself.

“It’s 2021, stop lying to yourself,” Thurman said. “Stop it, please...he barely threw any punches. He was in the pocket and he didn’t pull the trigger. He didn’t pull the trigger, he right there in the pocket. That boy, I don’t know if he got that dog in him no more, man. That Philly boy, I don’t know if he got that dog in him no more. He’s very cautious, very timid. He being a timid fighter now, hoping to land something. Stop it.

“Respect Danny, be a fan, love the boy — that’s all good. But let’s just be honest of where his skills are in the welterweight division. He’s been struggling ever since he hit 147. He been struggling, man. Let’s be real.”
