2021 is set to get going in boxing, with Ryan Garcia and Luke Campbell squaring off on DAZN.

Ryan Garcia vs Luke Campbell

Round 1: Garcia takes center ring first and paws with his jab, then throws one to the body. Campbell looking for his range and paws with his left hand. Left hook from Garcia misses and Campbell counters with a left hand. Jab lands upstairs for Garcia who is very aggressive to start this fight. Jab lands downstairs for Garcia. Campbell lands a left to the bo as counter. Another left to the body scores for Campbell but Garcia comes right back and lands a straight right that knocks Campbell off balance. Right hand lands to the body for Garcia as part of a three punch combination. Jab from Campbell partially lands. Garcia stalks forward and throws a few punches that Campbell blocks pretty well. Counter left lands for Campbell as Garcia sticks his tongue out at him. Left to the body makes partial contact for Garcia. I think Garcia was mostly the boss in that round. Garcia 10-9.

Round 2: Campbell lands a hard left hand to the body. Garcia comes back with a jab to the body. Another left to the body makes solid contact for Campbell. Right hand from Garcia gets blocked. Garcia tries to open up with power shots as Campbell covers up along the ropes before finding an escape route. Campbell jabs upstairs and falls a little short. Jab from Garcia lands, CAMPBELL PUTS GARCIA DOWN WITH A COUNTER! Garcia gets up and wants to continue! Left hand from Campbell lands downstairs. Campbell not going crazy and is lands a left hand upstairs. Lunging left misses for Campbell. Garcia lands a left hook to the body. Left hand from Campbell falls a little short again. Garcia tries to come back with a couple punches but they don’t land clean. Campbell 10-8, 19-18.

Round 3: Garcia tries to line up a straight right that misses. Campbell lands a jab down to the body. Garcia misses on another right hand that he loads up on. Campbell slips along the ropes and then measures with his left hand before throwing one to the body. Left from Campbell just falls short after a jab. Jab lands for Campbell but the left doesn’t. Another clean shot from Campbell snaps Garcia’s head back. Garcia lands a left to the body. Left hand from Campbell scores upstairs. Garcia misses on some shots as he unloads but Campbell covers up well. Campbell lands a lunging shot that takes some power of the punch. Counter jab lands for Campbell. Left from Campbell scores upstairs, then a jab to the body. Garcia throws a few punches but Campbell fires back to get off the ropes. Close round but I think Campbell largely controlled Garcia with his boxing. Campbell 10-9.

Round 4: Garcia lands a right to the body but misses the right hand. Campbell tries a body shot but Garcia pulls back off of it. Jab to the body doesn’t land well for Campbell. Garcia throws a few but doesn’t make solid contact. Jab to the body lands for Campbell but Garcia comes back with two. Campbell goes back down to the body with a left hand, then another. Hard right from Garcia lands pretty well upstairs. Another right hand from Garcia makes good contact. Campbell falls a little short on a left to the body before ducking a sweeping hook from Garcia.Left to the body lands for Campbell. Straight left lands upstairs and Garcia comes back with a couple of punches. Straight left lands to the body again for Campbell. Left hook from Garcia doesn’t land clean but makes some contact. I like Campbell’s left to the body in this round. Campbell 10-9, 39-36.

Round 5: Garcia presses forward and lands a left hand but takes a short in return. Jab from Campbell lands upstairs. Now Campbell jabs to the body and makes contact. Garcia partially lands a right hand lead. Left hook to the body lands for Garcia. Garcia throws and makes partial contact again but Campbell lands a left to the body. Now Garcia is warned for a punch landing below the belt. Garcia steps forward and Campbell lands a left to the chest. Right hand lands for Garcia this time. Straight right hand lands for Garcia to the head. Campbell comes back with a a left and Garcia throws two in return. FLurry from Garcia knocks Campbell back. Campbell gets back on his jab and touches to the body. Check hook lands for Garcia at the bell and hurts Campbell! Garcia 10-9.

Round 6: Campbell might have to get some respect here as Garcia is on the attack and is throwing with both hands trying to finish Campbell! Garcia getting a little wild and gets tied up with Campbell at center ring. Jab to the body lands for Campbell. Straight right from Garcia doesn’t quite find its mark. Campbell lands a left to the body in the midst of a combination. Campbell tries to jab to the body. Garcia eats a left from Campbell as he doubles it. Garcia comes back forward behind a right hand lead. Jab lands to the body for Garcia. Left hook from Garcia has Campbell on the retreat. Campbell lands a shot to back Garcia off momentarily. Garcia dominated the opening minute and that probably carries the round for him. Garcia 10-9, 56-57.

Round 7: Campbell comes forward and lands a couple of clean shots early. Jab from Campbell makes partial contact. Lead right from Garcia lands clean to the head. Left to the body from Campbell doesn’t land clean. Left to the body lands for Garcia. Garcia steps awat from a body shot from Campbell. Body shot from Garcia puts Campbell down! CAMPBELL CAN’T GET UP. Garcia KO-7.

Rene Alvarado vs Roger Gutierrez

Round 1: Both fighters trade jabs to open the fight. Alvarado lands a right to the body. Gutierrez tries a lead hook but has it blocked. Gutierrez tries a right hand lead that also gets blocked. Alvarado lands a straight shot as Gutierrez tries to lay back and box early. Now Alvarado throws a left hook to the body. Right hand lands over the top for Alvarado this time. Gutierrez misses on a right hand counter. Hook from Gutierrez looks to stray below the belt. Now Gutierrez lands a right hand upstairs and Gutierrez staggers Alvarado a bit. That might’ve swung the round in Gutierrez’s favor. Gutierrez 10-9.

Round 2: Gutierrez tries a lead hook but Alvarado blocks it. Alvarado comes forward and blocks a shot from Gutierrez. Right hand from Alvarado misses upstairs. Alvarado lands his next shot to the head. Left hook lands for Alvarado. Alvarado partially lands a jab upstairs. Alvarado misses on a looping right hand over the top. Gutierrez lands a good shot on Alvarado this time. Both fighters trade jabs. Right hand lands for Alvarado upstairs. Close round but I slightly edge this round to Alvarado. Alvarado 10-9, 19-19.

Round 3: Gutierrez comes out with a couple of punches but Alvarado defends them well. HARD UPPERCUT FROM GUTIERREZ PUTS ALVARADO ON HIS ASS! ALvarado is up but he’s unsteady as Gutierrez tries to pour it on. Alvarado goes down again! Alvarado gets up and still wants to continue. Gutierrez comes forward and lands a left hook to the body, then another uppercut that has Alvarado staggering again! Alvarado holds on! Gutierrez lands a left hook upstairs but Alvarado takes it. Alvarado comes back and lands a jab and now Gutierrez has a cut around his eye. Timeout as Gutierrez lost his mouthpiece. Two hook some from Alvarado. Gutierrez 10-7, 29-26.

Round 4: Gutierrez seems to have punched himself out in that previous round as Alvarado looks a little more lively. Uppercut from Gutierrez doesn’t find the mark this time. Alvarado misses on a right hand upstairs. Now Alvarado lands a right to the body. Check hook makes good contact for Alvarado. Right hand lands to the body for Alvarado. Gutierrez tries to jab but can’t really make it work. Alvarado 10-9, 36-38.

Round 5: Alvarado comes out jabbing and lands a right hand to the head. Jab and right hand lands for Alvarado again. Alvarado slips but keeps going and lands a couple more shots on Gutierrez. Three punches land for Alvarado as Gutierrez still seems a bit gassed. Left to the body and a right to the head lands for Alvarado. Uppercut from Gutierrez lands but doesn’t do the damage it did earlier. Uppercut lands for Alvarado this time, then a clean jab. Both fighters trade and make partial contact at center ring. Jab lands for Alvarado and Gutierrez is bleeding badly. Alvarado 10-9.

Round 6: Timeout to have the doctor examine Gutierrez’s cut, says he’s okay to continue. Alvarado tries a couple of jabs that fall short. Alvarado stalks forward and Gutierrez throws two shots that get blocked. Left hook makes partial contact upstairs for Gutierrez. Jab lands for Alvarado, then a right hand to the head as he lunges forward. Clean counter left hook lands well for Alvarado. Alvarado 10-9, 56-56.

Round 7: Alvarado comes out on the attack and Gutierrez looks for room to retreat. Alvarado lands a couple of short punches on the inside. Gutierrez throws an ineffective combination that Alvarado is able to pretty easily defend. Four punches from Gutierrez get blocked again as Alvarado looks to close the distance. Uppercut lands for Alvarado on the inside. Jab lands stiff for Alvarado as he trades with Gutierrez. Clean left counter lands for Alvarado to the head. Alvarado 10-9.

Round 8: Both fighters trade but neither land clean. Gutierrez tries a jab but has it parried. Jab lands upstairs for Alvarado. Left hook from Alvarado lands in between Gutierrez’s punches. Alvarado tries to work his left hand on the inside as Gutierrez is looking to do a lot of holding. Slow round of action for this fight as a lot of clinching was initiated by Gutierrez. Alvarado 10-9, 76-74.

Round 9: Jab comes from Gutierrez. Right hand from Alvarado just misses upstairs. Check hook makes a little contact to the chest for Alvarado. Gutierrez throws a few shots and makes partial contact as Alvarado covers up. Gutierrez steps back as Alvarado comes forward. Gutierrez had more of the kind of action he wanted in this round. Gutierrez 10-9.

Round 10: Gutierrez tries a jab to start the round. Alvarado tries to close the gap and Gutierrez initiates a clinch. Right hand from Alvarado glances off Gutierrez’s head. Short uppercut lands on the inside for Alvarado. Gutierrez throws three punches but Alvarado blocks them. Gutierrez throws a few more punches that make partial contact as Alvarado covers up. Double jab makes a little contact for Gutierrez but Alvarado lands a hard one back and Gutierrez clinches. Gutierrez 10-9, 94-94.

Round 11: Jab comes from Gutierrez. Gutierrez trying to keep this fight at range, smothering any inside work where he can manage it. Alvarado blocks a couple of punches from Gutierrez and works his left hand on the inside. Jab lands upstairs for Alvarado. Huge haymaker from Alvarado misses upstairs. Alvarado tries a double right hand that makes partial contact. Good body shot lands for Alvarado. Alvarado 10-9.

Round 12: Gutierrez tries to summon some energy and throws a few punches that don’t land clean and now Alvarado counters and lands two upstairs. Hook from Gutierrez puts Alvarado down out of nowhere! Alvarado gets up and that’s going to be a big difference maker in this fight after Alvarado fought his way back into this fight. Right hand lands for Alvarado across the chin. Uppercut from Gutierrez doesn’t land. Alvarado comes forward and lands a left hand upstairs. Alvarado lands a right to the body. Right hook to the body lands for Alvarado. Gutierrez 10-8 and that’s enough to put Gutierrez back on top on my scorecard. I’ve got it for Gutierrez 113-112.

Felix Alvarado vs DeeJay Kriel

Round 1: Alvarado comes out with a quick jab to the body. Kriel comes back with severl of his own jabs that don’t make much contact. Now several hard shots land for Alvarado to the head and body as he has Kriel along the ropes and in some early distress. Alvarado continues to apply a ton of pressure, staying right in Kriel’s face as he tries to retreat. Kriel throws a body shot and misses on a hook upstairs. Alvarado lands a clean jab and two right hands to the head before going back to the body and adding in a couple of uppercuts to the chin that land clean. Right to the body lands for Alvarado. Alvarado continues to strafe Kriel along the ropes. Alvarado 10-9.

Round 2: Alvarado comes out looking to pick up where he left off but Kriel throws a number of jabs to maintain distance for about 10 seconds before Alvarado is able to swarm him. Jab lands for Alvarado as he goes on an aggressive hunt. Right hand to the body and a left hook lands for Alvarado. MONSTER LEFT HOOK PUTS KRIEL DOWN HARD! Kriel bounces back up and wants to continue. Uppercut lands for Alvarado as he throws with body hands as Kriel is on the ropes. Right hook lands for Alvarado and Kriel stumbles a bit. Right hook gets in for Kriel to the body but he eats a counter in return as Alvarado won’t give him any space to breathe. Another right hook goes upside Kriel’s head. Kriel throws two left hands but can’t get any respect from Alvarado. Alvarado 10-8, 20-17.

Round 3: Kriel comes out sporting a left jab but Alvarado just ducks low and starts coming forward. Alvarado misses on two lunging punches. Left and right hand land to the body for Alvarado. Another left hook lands clean upstairs but Kriel doesn’t collapse this time. Kriel is on the retreat but still throwing punches back. Right hand lands over the top for Alvarado. Kriel is able to let his hands go a lot in this round as Alvarado might’ve tuckered himself out a bit in the last two rounds but nwo Alvarado starts throwing. What the heck, I’ll give this round to Kriel. Kriel 10-9.

Round 4: Right hand to the body falls short for Alvarado. Another clean left hook wipes Kriel’s chin and Kriel goes down again. Kriel gets back up and wants to continue. Alvarado comes on the attack and lands a hook but with Kriel on the ropes he takes the shot better this time. Kriel lands a counter left hook but takes more shots in return. Kriel might be too tough for his own good in a fight like this, Kriel is taking a long of punishment. Uppercut lands for Alvarado, then a right hand to the head. Left hook lands again for Alvarado and I’m honestly surprised Kriel is still on his feet and throwing back at this point. Right hand lands for Kriel, who then throws a quick little flurry with no power. Alvarado 10-8, 39-35.

Round 5: Alvarado comes out with a jab as he stalks Kriel. Right hand lands upstairs for Alvarado and Kriel is back on the ropes again. Kriel throws a couple of punches and pivots at center ring but the problem is he can’t keep this up for any length of time. Alvarado comes forward and walks into a hook from Kriel. Three hard hook land for Alvarado to the head and Kriel wants to trade with him. Four jabs and a right hand comes from Kriel. Alvarado ducks a few shots from Kriel as he stands in close. Hook from Alvarado knocks Kriel back to the ropes. Right hand lands upstairs for Alvarado. Alvarado 10-9.

Round 6: Kriel jabs but takes one in return. Right hand to the body lands for Alvarado. Alvarado comes forward and misses on a right hook upstairs. Kriel throws a few punches and then looks to step off the line. Now Kriel is back on the ropes and takes a left hook to the body. Right hand lead just misses for Alvarado Kriel throws a couple of punches but doesn’t land them clean. Jab lands for Alvarado. Kriel tries to flurry and get off the ropes and he’s able to get to center ring and lets his hands fly. Right hand lead lands for Alvarado this time. Kriel is able to counter with a hook and then let go a combination. Kriel 10-9, 54-58.

Round 7: Both fighters throw to start the round but Kriel quickly gets on his bike and tries to find space to move around the ring. Right hand glances off Kriel’s head. Kriel throws a flurry but none of the punches really land, nor have much authority on them. Kriel throws a left hook counter. Left hook lands well for Alvarado to the head. Right hook and left lands for Kriel. Uppercut lands for Alvarado. Kriel throws a few hooks off the ropes. Close round that I’ll edge to Kriel. Kriel 10-9.

Round 8: Left hook leads comes from Alvarado. Kriel tries to jab and pivot and he’s still throwing a lot of punches even if he’s not got much power. Alvarado pushes Kriel to the ropes but can’t keep him there. Kriel throws a number of body shots as Alvarado covers up at center ring. Kriel has really gotten his boxing together these past few rounds. Alvarado lands a looping shot upstairs. Two hook lands for Alvarado in close. Alvarado doubles the left hook to the head and body. Kriel is game and wants to come back with some of his own punches. Hard right to the body lands for Alvarado, then another body shot. Left gets in for Alvarado this time. Alvarado 10-9, 77-73.

Round 9: Alvarado comes out aggressively and works Kriel on the ropes and in the corner. Alvarado is loading up on a lot of power shots and Kriel is doing his best to ride the punches as best he can. Right hand lands to the head for Alvarado. Kriel throws a combination that ends to the body but he’s not making any real impact on Alvarado so far as deterring him from coming forward. Big hooks come from Alvarado and glances off Kriel. Both fighters trade at center ring but Alvarado is still landing with much more authority. Kriel looks in big trouble as Alvarado tries to pour it on but Kriel is saved by the bell. Alvarado 10-9.

Round 10: Doctor taking a moment to examine Kriel, says he’s okay to go. Alvarado comes out throwing both hands and lands a right hand upstairs, then another! Alvarado throwing hard shots and lands a left hook to the body. Right hand lands upstairs for Alvarado. Body shot lands for Alvarado. Another looping right glances off Kriel’s head and the referee has seen enough and steps in to wave it off. Alvarado TKO-10.

Ryan Garcia and Luke Campbell will kick off the 2021 boxing schedule today on DAZN, with their main event and much more streaming live beginning at 3 pm ET from Dallas.

Garcia, 22, and Campbell, 33, are in the 12-round lightweight main event. While the full card starts at 3 pm ET, the main event is being advertised to start at 5 pm ET. That does not mean it will start right at 5 pm ET, but that is what DAZN are listing.

Apart from the highly-anticipated main event, we’ll also see the Alvarado twins, junior lightweight Rene and junior flyweight Felix, defend titles against Roger Gutierrez and DeeJay Kriel, respectively, plus some prospects in action.
