Notes: Technically, Sergey Kovalev isn’t two years inactive until tomorrow, but I get the inkling he won’t schedule anything by next Monday, so enough already. If he does, I can put him back in, it’s not that serious.
In at No. 10 is European champ Mathieu Bauderlique, who is a decent fighter and the choice over other decent fighter options like Fanlong Meng, Callum Johnson (who was lucky to escape with a win in his last fight against a non-contender), Lyndon Arthur, Craig Richards, and Umar Salamov. BoxRec’s system currently have ancient Sullivan Barrera in the 10th slot, with the same other nine guys I have — different order, but same guys — and while I get the computer sees that, he looked shot to absolute bits against Zurdo Ramirez, I don’t think he’s got much left. This could change if, say, Johnson has a great performance, or Arthur out-classes Anthony Yarde badly in their rematch. Bauderlique is really placeholder status here.
Upcoming Fights: (5) Badou Jack vs TBA [cruiserweight], Nov. 26 ... (1) Artur Beterbiev vs (4) Marcus Browne, Dec. 17 ... (7) Maxim Vlasov vs (9) Joshua Buatsi, Dec. 18 ... (3) Joe Smith Jr vs Umar Salamov, TBA

Notes: An easy win for “Boots” Ennis on Saturday, as he smashed Thomas Dulorme in the first round. The kid needs a big fight, and he wants one badly. There is just no more he’s going to prove or learn at this level. Unfortunately, it’s not necessarily as easy as snapping fingers. But I mean, what do you do with him now? Give him Josesito Lopez, maybe? Whomever doesn’t get plucked to fight Conor Benn in December?
Radzhab Butaev is in at No. 9, replacing the man he beat, Jamal James. Butaev was impressive if not flawless. Assuming he gets that fight with Yordenis Ugas next year, he could be dangerous style-wise in that one, as long as he can keep that type of pressure on for an entire fight and bully Ugas, which will not be near easy. Good fight if it happens, though Ugas still has to get past Eimantas Stanionis, who is a plenty game fighter, too. That’s no gimme.
Upcoming Fights: (2) Terence Crawford vs (4) Shawn Porter, Nov. 20 ... (3) Yordenis Ugas vs Eimantas Stanionis, TBA

Notes: No change in the rankings this week, but Jose Zepeda torched Josue Vargas on Saturday night, ending Vargas’ breakout week of press conference and weigh-in performances with a dud on fight night. Zepeda is stuck in a tough spot where he wants and probably has earned a title shot, but one guy has all four belts and he has other stuff to take care of first, and then bigger fights might be available after.
Upcoming Fights: (3) Jose Ramirez vs (7) Jose Pedraza, Feb. 5 ... (1) Josh Taylor vs Jack Catterall, Feb. 26

Notes: Chantelle Cameron had a good win on Saturday, unifying titles by beating Mary McGee. She’ll have either Kali Reis or Jessica Camara next for all four belts at 140. Cameron could probably be here; the biggest question right now, at least among those I have ranked, is whether or not Brakehus really belongs anymore, and I’m getting closer to saying maybe not, with all due respect to her and a great career. Not quite yet, but she’s the one really teetering here.
Upcoming Fights: (5) Delfine Persoon vs Beatriz Aguilar, Nov. 1 ... (6) Mikaela Mayer vs Maiva Hamadouche, Nov. 5 ... (10) Terri Harper vs Alycia Baumgardner, Nov. 13 ... (2) Claressa Shields vs Ema Kozin, Dec. 11 ... (8) Savannah Marshall vs TBA, Dec. 11
