Canelo vs Plant live stream for undercard press conference featuring Anthony Dirrell, Rey Vargas, more

The Canelo-Plant PPV undercard fighters give their final thoughts ahead of Saturday’s show.

Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant did their press conference yesterday, and today it’s time for Saturday’s Showtime pay-per-view undercard fighters to take the stage.

The press conference will stream live at 2 pm ET.

The undercard lineup:

  • Former two-time super middleweight titlist Anthony Dirrell (33-2-2, 24 KO) will take on Marcos Hernandez (15-4-2, 3 KO) in a 10-round super middleweight fight. Dirrell looked pretty flat in his last outing, a draw against Kyrone Davis in February. Hernandez is a gritty battler sort of in the mold of Gabriel Rosado, a guy who always comes to fight and often causes more problems than expected, as he did when he upset prospect Jose Armando Resendiz in September.
  • Rey Vargas (34-0, 22 KO), who gave up the WBC 122 lb belt to move up to 126 for a mandatory fight with Gary Russell Jr, is instead staying at 122, now without a belt, and fighting Leonardo Baez (21-4, 12 KO), whom you may recall beating Alberto Melian in 2019 before getting handled pretty easily by Jason Moloney and Carlos Caraballo in back-to-back fights in 2020-21.
  • Former Top Rank prospect Elvis Rordriguez (11-1-1, 10 KO) will look to bounce back from his loss to Kenneth Sims Jr in May, as he faces Juan Pablo Romero (14-0, 9 KO), who is 31 years old and not the prospect his record might make you think.

In short, it’s not an undercard anyone is excited for at all, but it will exist, as will today’s press conference, so we’ve got the stream for you if you’re interested.
