Canelo vs Plant: Eddie Hearn says Caleb Plant has never faced an elite fighter, doesn’t think he can win

The Matchroom promoter is backing Canelo to become undisputed super middleweight champion tomorrow night.

Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn fielded some questions about tomorrow’s big undisputed super middleweight unification fight between Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant.

Looking at the fight from his perspective, Hearn says he finds it difficult to see a path to victory for Plant considering his relatively low level of opposition in the past.

“(Caleb Plant) never fought an elite fighter in his whole career. Show me one,” Hearn said. “I mean Caleb Truax, great guy, world class fighter, not an elite super middleweight. (Jose Uzcategui) good, not an elite super middleweight. Anyone else that he’s fought? It’s like, no.

“But he’s a talent, he’s a great fighter, I just don’t think he can beat Canelo Alvarez. I really don’t.”

Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant are scheduled to collide tomorrow night on Showtime PPV, but in the meanwhile you can stick with us right here for their live streaming weigh-in, set to go live at 4 p.m. ET.
