Devin Haney vs Joseph Diaz: Highlights from opening press conference

Devin Haney will put his WBC title on the line against JoJo Diaz, Dec. 4.

Matchroom Boxing held it’s opening press conference today for the lightweight title fight between Devin Haney and Joseph Diaz. Both fighters were on hand to discuss their thoughts on this recently announced fight and what it means for them going forward.

“This is going to be a tremendous night of an action-packed fight,” Diaz said. “I know that Devin Haney’s a really, really skilled, elusive fighter but I’m a dog and I’m the type of person that’s already been in there and dealt with experience and dealt with adversity where I know what it is to kill or you get killed, and I’m just gonna go out there and do what I gotta do to become victorious no matter what it takes. If he wants to try to box I’m just gonna hunt his ass down. If he wants to come and bang, then I’m just gonna bang it out as well. Whatever he wants to bring to the table I’m gonna bring it.”

After Diaz continued on by citing his past experience at the world level, Haney had an opportunity to speak his piece landing a notable opponent after struggling to find quality matches.

“I’ve been preparing this fight for a while now,” Haney said. “I’m so thankful that the fight finally came and I can’t wait to show JoJo diaz that he can be a dog but at the end of the day skills pay the bills and if that’s his only approach — that he’s gonna dog me — come on, I’ve been seeing that my whole career. So if that’s your Plan-A and you just feel like I’m gonna let you dog me and that’s how you gonna stop me, it’s gonna be a long night.”
