Jamel Herring vs Carl Frampton postponed again after Frampton reportedly injures hand

I told y’all this matchup was cursed.

Multiple sources report that WBO junior lightweight champion Jamel Herring’s ever-shifting title defense against Carl Frampton, currently scheduled for February 27th in London, will be pushed back to March after Frampton suffered a hand injury. Steve Kim claims that Mar. 27 is “being floated around,” though there’s no word yet as to whether the undercard will follow.

Andrew Cancio may be the most snakebit fighter in the division, but Herring (22-2, 10 KO) and Frampton (28-2, 16 KO) are way up there, particularly the former. The former two-division champ broke his hand in 2019 when a hotel pillar fell on it and subsequently broke both hands beating Tyler McCreary. Both men went a rough 1-0 in 2020, Herring beating Jonathan Oquendo by headbutt DQ after a pair of positive COVID tests and Frampton taking a decision over late replacement Darren Traynor.

Thankfully, it seems like it’ll be a minor delay; let’s just hope it finally sticks and doesn’t prompt a fresh round of objections from mandatory challenger Shakur Stevenson.
