Miguel Berchelt and Oscar Valdez meet tomorrow night on ESPN and ESPN+ for Berchelt’s WBC junior lightweight title, and today they hit the scales for the final step toward getting in the ring.
The weigh-in will stream live in the video up top starting at 5 pm ET. If you can’t watch a stream but are reading this and have access to a TV you can watch — this seems an unlikely scenario, I know — it will also air on ESPN2.
We’ll have fight-by-fight weigh-in results for you, updating the post as the stream goes along.
Berchelt (37-1, 33 KO) won his 130-pound belt back in Jan. 2017, so he’s entering his fourth year with the strap, having made six successful defenses. Valdez (28-0, 22 KO) held the WBO featherweight title from 2016-19, vacating to move up to 130 late in 2019. He’s got the fight he was after, now the question is how he’ll do against a top guy at the new weight.
The co-feature will be another 130-pound fight, a 10-rounder between prospect Gabriel Flores Jr (19-0, 6 KO) and Jayson Velez (29-7-1, 21 KO), and there will be the usual parade of prrospects on the ESPN+ prelims, and also Esquiva Falcao.
