We’ll wait just a bit longer on the rematch between Alexander Povetkin and Dillian Whyte.

Matchroom Boxing have just announced that the planned rematch between Alexander Povetkin and Dillian Whyte has been postponed three weeks, and will now take place March 27 in Gibraltar.

The show will still stream live on DAZN, and air on Sky Box Office in the UK.

This was somewhat expected, though Hearn had previously said he didn’t think the fight would be moved from its March 6 date. But there was never a venue attached — most expected it’d wind up at Wembley’s SSE Arena, where Matchroom have been running of late — and there were legitimate logistical issues with Whyte trying to get into the UK from Portugal, and having to quarantine, government regulations and all that.

Either way, the fight is on. Povetkin (36-2-1, 25 KO) will look to score what would probably be another upset over Whyte (27-2, 18 KO), having rallied to do so last August at Matchroom’s Fight Camp. It’s a good matchup again, should have some bombs again, and the winner will stay in the title mix at heavyweight.
