During an interview with The Fight Is Right, Mark Breland gives his take on all of the accusations levied against him by his former fighter, Deontay Wilder. Breland isn’t a man of many words, but makes it clear that the accusations are as ridiculous as most people took them as.

Breland on his falling out with Deontay Wilder:

“My whole thing with Deontay, that’s a part of boxing I guess. His career is done now so, I’m done, he’s done. I’m done with him.”

On Wilder relying too much on his power and not developing his boxing:

“One thing I’d like to say is that he’s got a lot of power and that’s all. And I wish him well, and that’s it. All he got is power, we’ll see how far that takes him. That’s all I want to say.”

On if he thinks there will be a third fight between Wilder and Fury:

“Honestly, I don’t care.”

On if he has any response to Wilder’s accusations of him tampering with his water:

“I mean, so many people know me. My character speaks for itself...spiking the water, if you look at the tapes or whatever and stuff like that, you don’t ever see the water in my hands...and regardless of that, I’m there to help you, not to hurt you.

“See, some people can’t take a loss...Now when you lose, don’t blame everybody, go back and think about yourself.”

On Wilder accusing Fury of using tampered gloves:

“If he did, which I doubt it very much — I don’t know, I didn’t see nothing — but still at the same time, he’s not gonna beat Tyson Fury. And Jay Deas was standing right there when he was getting his hands wrapped...and he didn’t say nothing.”

On how special a fighter he thinks Fury is:

“I mean, one thing is he’s a very good boxer, but he’s good at mind games...he can get you frustrated just by talking.”

On how he sees a Fury-Joshua fight playing out:

“To be honest, I could beat Anthony Joshua...here’s a guy who doesn’t have a jab at all...I would out-jab him, I don’t think he’d be able to touch me.

“Fury will beat (Joshua) up.”

On if Wilder listened to his training advice:

“The proof is in the fights. Look at the fights. If you look at any of the fights where I’m the trainer or pro, you’ll see nothing like it, nothing, because he does what he wants to do.

“No (he didn’t listen to me), not at all.”

On why he worked with Wilder for so long if he didn’t listen:

“First of all, if I boxed the guys he boxed I’d beat them. That’s the bottom line.

“You said he had some good wins or a good win?! Just (the Ortiz) fight, that’s it.”

On Wilder flashing a good jab in second fight with Bermane Stiverne:

“You could beat Stiverne.”

On if he thinks Wilder has a good jab:

“No. He used the jab one time in that fight with Stiverne and that was it. His whole thing is, his motto is ‘you gotta be perfect for 12 rounds because I’ve got power.’ That’s it.”

On if it’s true that Wilder doesn’t hit the heavy and speed bags during training:

“No, he boxes. He never hits the bag, he don’t hit the speed bags right. First of all he don’t jump rope. Speed bags, he don’t hit them.”
