Lopez vs Kambosos: Underdog George Kambosos Jr confident, cites Manny Pacquiao sparring experience

Kamobos will soon challenge Lopez for his world titles in a mandatory defense.

During this video interview with Fight Hype, George Kambosos Jr discusses his upcoming world title shot against Teofimo Lopez and how this is the chance to prove how good he really is. Kambosos says he’s been preparing his whole life for this moment, and he’s says he’ll take all that experience with him into the ring against Lopez.

Kamobosos on his experience leading into this fight:

“I’ve had the hard road. Lopez has not had a super hard road like I have: traveling all over the world, going into the lion’s den, going into the hard gyms where you’ve come from Australia, sparring the best fighters in the world, going as Manny Pacquiao’s sparring partner — getting tested to see if you’re worth his time to be his sparring partner. Three camps later, 23 rounds later, I’ve proved where I am. I’ve earned my stripes, and it’s time to shock the world and really show what I’m about.”

On if he’s learned anything from his sparring sessions with Pacquiao:

“Many things. To fuckin’ do 23 rounds with Pacquiao and come out no problem — I love Pacquiao and he can tell you the same thing, ‘Kambosos is a killer. Kambosos can win this fight.’ There was talk back then when I was sparring Pacquiao that Lomachenko wanted to fight Manny Pacquiao, and Manny was turning around and going ‘George, you go fight him, you’ll beat him.’ So start putting two and two together.

“It’s exciting. I’ve had a great preparation...throughout my career. Every bit of preparation, every sparring I’ve done with different world champions. And it’s been about 20 of them. I’ve sparred 20 world champions, beat two former world champions. It’s all led to this moment. This will be the biggest moment, the biggest victory of my career and the biggest victory for Australian — maybe not even just boxing but Austrilian sport ever. This is massive.”
