DAZN’s April 17 card featuring WBO middleweight titlist Demetrius Andrade defending against Liam Williams is filling out, with Carlos Gongora to take on Christopher Pearson in the night’s co-feature.

Gongora (19-0, 14 KO) turned a lot of heads and got into the super middleweight mix when he beat Ali Akhmedov last December on the Golovkin-Szeremeta card, and he’ll stay at the weight to fight Pearson (17-2, 12 KO), who was once a prospect, seemed to peter out, and then upset Yamaguchi Falcao in 2019, signing a new contract with Golden Boy after.

The 30-year-old Pearson as right at the age where if he’s going to really make a move as a pro, it’s going to happen now. He’s always been a skilled fighter, and if he’s really put it together now, he could be plenty dangerous here in a southpaw-southpaw matchup against the 31-year-old Gongora.

Also in action:

  • Mahammadrasul Majidov (3-0, 3 KO) will face veteran Andrey Fedosov (31-3, 25 KO) in a 10-round heavyweight bout.
  • Otha Jones III (5-0-1, 2 KO) takes on Jorge Castaneda (13-1, 11 KO) in an eight-round junior lightweight fight.
  • Junior welterweight Arthur Biyarslanov (7-0, 6 KO) will meet Israel Mercado (9-0, 7 KO) in an another eight-rounder.
  • Super middleweight Alexis Espino (7-0, 5 KO) and junior welterweight Aaron Aponte (2-0, 1 KO) are also in action, with opponents to be named.
