During this video interview with Fight Hub TV, unified lightweight titleholder Teofimo Lopez talks about his upcoming defense against George Kambosos Jr and explains that he’s expecting to make it a short night’s work. Check out some excerpts of what he had to say below.
Lopez on what he’s been focusing on in training camp
“My focus in camp really is just work on my craft and perfect it as much as possible so come fight night I’m so untouchable that people can’t even have anything else to say. And then we finish it with a bang.”
On what he makes of Kambosos skill set
“I think that he’s a strong fighter, hungry fighter, someone that’s gonna want to come in aggressive, you know, and it’s gonna be a good fight. It’s gonna be one of those fight that you guys see toe-to-toe. And it’s one of those type of events where this guy is one of those guys that has to prove something to himself and this guy, he still has to prove something himself. So it’s gonna be a great matchup.
On what he thinks of Kambosos’ pre-fight trash talk
“My whole thing is like, it’s cool, whatever. Say what you gotta say...do what you gotta do but at the end of it all ain’t nobody gonna trash talk better than I can.”
On if he agrees with his father that this will be a quick fight
“Oh yeah. It will. Me and him talk about it and we both agree on it — same thing we sat down and talked about with Commey...It won’t go past three, and that’s what I stay on...I’m even thinking about putting money on it. So yeah, Kambosos, you’re going down within three.”
