Super middleweight Carlos Gongora returns to action on Saturday’s Andrade-Williams card on DAZN, facing Christopher Pearson in the event’s co-feature bout.

Gongora (19-0, 14 KO), who scored an upset win over Ali Akhmedov last December, will be the favorite this time against Pearson (17-2, 12 KO), and has his sights set on much bigger fights down the line.

That means, of course, that he wants to get in the ring with Canelo Alvarez.

“In order to become number one, you have to fight the best, so I am waiting for the opportunity to present itself to fight against Canelo Alvarez,” he said. “It’s a dream I’ve always had since I started boxing professionally, and that’s what I keep chasing, and hoping that one day the opportunity to fight him will present itself.”

How to Watch Andrade vs Williams

Date: Saturday, April 17 | Start Time: 3:00 pm ET
Location: Seminole Hard Rock - Hollywood, FL
Streaming: DAZN

The 31-year-old Gongora is facing a fellow southpaw in the 30-year-old Pearson, who should not be written off in this fight. Pearson was once a highly-regarded prospect, but a 2015 loss to Eric Walker and a 2017 loss to Justin DeLoach took the steam out of his career. He regained momentum last we saw him, upsetting Yamaguchi Falcao.

But that was also two years ago, and Pearson will have to overcome any rust here, too.
