Tony Harrison vs Bryant Perrella

Round 1: Both fighters come out to center ring trying to size up one another. Harrison feints a few times but is continues to take Perrella’s measure. Harrison falls a little short on a right hand lead. Straight left hand lands to the body for Perrella. Straight right lands for Harrison to the body this time, Perrella gets one back. Right hand lead lands better for Harrison who then lands a couple of left hooks after it. Counter right lands for Perrella. Right and left hook misses for Perrella. I slightly favor Harrison’s work in this round. Harrison 10-9.

Round 2: Harrison throws a jab that doesn’t land. Perrella misses on a couple of long punches, Harrison counters. Now Perrella throws a combination before pivoting out. Harrison walks forward and lands a hard straighr right hand, then another. Now Harrison has Perrella on the ropes and strafes him with more right hands. Counter jab lands for Perrella. Right hand lands again for Harrison, who then digs to the body with a left hook. Harrison stalks Perrella and Harrison takes a couple of shots coming forward. Left hook lands for Harrison. Perrella fighting along the ropes again and is looking to punch and escape. I think Perrella took this round in the second half with some accurate punching. Perrella 10-9, 19-19.

Round 3: Perrella will need to keep up his movement as Harrison has been walking him down for the two opening rounds, applying lots of pressure. Perrella misses ona few jabs at center ring while trying to find the distance. Straight left from Perrella makes contact upstairs. Harrison stalks and slips as he looks to come forward but Perrella pops off first and moves off to the side. Straight right from Harrison lands to the body and head. Straight left lands for Perrella upstairs now. Right hook lands for Perrella this time, then an uppercut. Harrison stands in there and tries to find an opening. Short right uppercut lands for Harrison. Harrison lands a jab upstairs. Right hand from Harrison lands upstairs, then another. Perrella 10-9.

Round 4: Harrison comes out stalking Perrella and gets him to a corner and tries to be careful about walking into a trap. Harrison flicks a long jab. Perrella pops a couple jabs and lands a left hand upstairs. Straight left lands to the body for Perrella now. Straight right lands to the body for Harrison. Jab lands clean for Harrison. Sraight right lands to the body again for Harrison. Now Perrella lands a body shot. Harrison steps to Perrella with a jab, and then another. Double jab comes from Harrison and the second lands better. Harrison 10-9, 38-38.

Round 5: Harrison continues to come forward and tries to back Perrella towards the ropes. Perrella pops off a couple of jabs and to keep spacing. Harrison misses on a jab upstairs, Perrella falls a little short on a straight left to the body. Double jab comes from Harrison but it doesn’t make good contact. Now Harrison lands a straight right to the body. Double jab comes from Harrison that misses but he connects with a good right hand to the head. Short combination comes from Harrison that backs Perrella off. Now both fighters trade and land at center ring. Harrison 10-9.

Round 6: Perrella throws a few probing jabs that don’t make contact. Harrison continues to come forward on Perrella who times a few good shots that stuns Harrison momentarily. Perrella throws some body shots now as Harrison covers up. Uppercut from Perrella makes solid contact on the inside. Now Perrella lands a right hook as Harrison lands a clean jab. Now Perrella tries a check hook that doesn’t land well. Harrison coming forward and lands a good body shot. Harrison tries a combination but doesn’t land it clean. Perrella 10-9, 57-57.

Round 7: Both fighters trade jabs but Perrella’s looks like it landed a bit better there. Now Harrison is moving backwards and making Perrella come to him. Counter jab lands for Harrison. Perrella lands a body shot and then lands the left hand upstairs. Jab lands clean for Harrison. Straight left goes to the body and Harrison tries to counter with a right hand upstairs. Perrella falls off balance and falls into the ropes but Harrison can’t capitalize. Now Harrison lands a clean straight jab. Harrison 10-9.

Round 8: Straight left hand falls short for perrella. Harrison lands a couple of long jabs at center ring. Right hand from Harrison falls short. Perrella tries another left hand to the body but doesn’t land it well. Clean straight left lands for Perrella this time. Another straight left lands for Perrella. Jab lands for Harrison. Jab and right hand lands clean for Harrison, who then pivots out of the corner. Straight left to the body scores for Perrella. Perrella 10-9, 76-76.

Round 9: Harrison tries a jab to establish range. Double jab from Harrison doesn’t make much contact. Straight left tot the body falls short for Perrella. Straight right lands pretty well for Harrison. Harrison tries a few more jabs and makes a little contact. Harrison pops two more jabs as Perrella looks to go to the body with a right. Perrella falls short on a lead left hand. Harrison pops a jab upstairs and makes grazing contact. Both fighters trade jabs. Clash of heads and neither fighter seems to be cut. Harrison 10-9.

Round 10: Perrella presses forward to start this round and touches the body. Now Perrella misses on a jab. Harrison partially lands a jab of his own. Straight left lands for Perrella, then another. Perrella tries to come forward and work the body. Harrison is covering up and taking this a little slowly in terms of his work rate considering this has been a close fight. Counter right lands for Harrison. Double jab lands for Harrison this time. Close round but I think Harrison waited to late to get started. Perrella 10-9, 95-95.

Round 11: Harrison’s corner seems to be pretty confident in their position in this fight. We’ll see. Perrella comes forward and misses on a jab. Harrison lands a counter right hand as Perrella steps forward. Perrella throws a short combination and Harrison lands one decent counter in between. Harrison just misses on a right hand and both fighters clash heads again. Harrison double jabs but misses. Straight right lands to the body for Harrison. Jab lands for Harrison this time, followed by a straight right to the body that doesn’t land with much authority. Perrella 10-9 for the one good sequence.

Round 12: Perrla comes forward and Harrison is looking for a counter opportunity. Perrella lands a jab upstairs. Harrison lands a touching jab. Straight left lands clean for Harrison. Looping left hand doesn’t land clean for Perrella. Straight right lands to the body for Harrison, then a couple of clean jabs. Right hand lead doesn’t land clean for Harrison. Perrella lands a count jab. Harrison jabs and lands before getting tied up with Perrella and hitting the canvas. The final bell rings. I’ve got this round for Harrison 10-9, making it a draw on my card, 114-114.


Tonight at 8 pm ET on FOX, former titleholder Tony Harrison returns against Bryant Perrella in the main event of Premier Boxing Champions from Los Angeles.

Wil Esco will be on the round-by-round call for the main event, and will have results from the two undercard bouts, as well.

Harrison and Perrella are both returning from long layoffs, with Harrison having not fought since Dec. 2019 and Perrella since Feb. 2020, and both are also coming off of losses. Perrella is moving up in weight, too, coming from the welterweight division.

The undercard will see young prospects Omar Juarez and Vito Mielnicki Jr in action. Juarez, a 21-year-old junior welterweight, will be in his first 10-round fight against tough and scrappy Elias Araujo, while the 18-year-old Mielnicki, a junior middleweight, takes on James Martin.
