Regis Prograis won a technical decision after a “low blow” (it wasn’t one) ended Ivan Redkach’s night in the sixth round tonight at Triller Fight Club.

This is two straight bizarre performances in defeat from Redkach (23-6-1, 18 KO), who bit Danny Garcia when we last saw him fight in Jan. 2020, and now this. To be clear, not only wasn’t the punch near his groin, nor was it low, it didn’t even seem like it really landed.
Technical scores were 59-55, 60-54, and 60-54 for Prograis. BLH had it 60-54 for Prograis at the time of the bizarre, drawn-out stoppage.
The only thing Redkach could have in defense here is if he had a legitimate internal medical issue, and if that is the case we sincerely wish him all the best. Because the punch just did not land square and it definitely wasn’t low.
Prograis (26-1, 21 KO) will hopefully move on to a more relevant fight after two wins following his competitive 2019 loss to Josh Taylor. He’d be a good opponent for anyone at 140 or 147 if he wanted to move up, he’s a hell of a fighter and he controlled the action here. It wasn’t a pretty fight and Prograis didn’t look at his absolute sharpest, but he was much better than Redkach, not an unexpected result.
