Chantelle Cameron will make the first defense of her WBC junior welterweight title on May 29, when she faces veteran and former titlist Melissa Hernandez on the Devin Haney vs Jorge Linares card live on DAZN in Las Vegas.
Cameron (13-0, 7 KO) won the vacant title last October, and has looked dominant thus far as a professional. The 29-year-old rising star now takes on Hernandez (23-7-3, 7 KO), a 41-year-old veteran who didn’t fight for nearly three years between 2016 and 2019, returned to beat Selina Barrios in April 2019, and hasn’t fought since then. Hernandez was a very good fighter in her prime, but she’s older and is going to be very small at 140.
The show will also see Jason Quigley (18-1, 14 KO) take on Shane Mosley Jr (17-3, 10 KO) in a middleweight fight, plus Martin J. Ward (24-1-2, 11 KO) against Azinga Fuzile (14-1, 8 KO) in an IBF eliminator at 130, the pro debut of Khalil Coe, and returns for prospects Reshat Mati, Ramla Ali, and Darren Cunningham.
