UPDATE (10:44 pm ET): An “apparent accomplice” in the case “will cooperate with police,” according to reports.
Lightweight boxer Felix Verdejo is a “person of interest” in the disappearance of a woman, believed to be his girlfriend, in Puerto Rico.
The story has been in the news in Puerto Rico for a couple of days, with El Nuevo Dia reporting that Verdejo had been summoned but police but “did not cooperate” during an interview, “instead (remaining) silent on the recommendation of his lawyers.” It has been reported that the woman’s last known location was Verdejo’s home, and that she had revealed she was pregnant with his child.
A woman’s body was found today, according to El Vocero, and Lance Pugmire of The Athletic had these Tweets earlier this evening:
Sad news reports in the Felix Verdejo P.R. investigation that police have found a woman’s dead body at the Laguna San Jose, with forensic experts working to ID her. Reports that police believe the woman was dumped off a bridge, where blood was found and a camera ID’d a truck.

On Puerto Rican TV, police are seen arriving at a Felix Verdejo family house to inspect a pickup truck that presumably could match the one spotted on the bridge where the woman’s body was dumped.
