UPDATE (10:44 pm ET): An “apparent accomplice” in the case “will cooperate with police,” according to reports.

Lightweight boxer Felix Verdejo is a “person of interest” in the disappearance of a woman, believed to be his girlfriend, in Puerto Rico.

The story has been in the news in Puerto Rico for a couple of days, with El Nuevo Dia reporting that Verdejo had been summoned but police but “did not cooperate” during an interview, “instead (remaining) silent on the recommendation of his lawyers.” It has been reported that the woman’s last known location was Verdejo’s home, and that she had revealed she was pregnant with his child.

A woman’s body was found today, according to El Vocero, and Lance Pugmire of The Athletic had these Tweets earlier this evening:

Top Rank, who have promoted the 27-year-old Verdejo since he turned pro in 2012, released a statement on the reports:

We’ll have more on the story if and when there are further developments either tonight or in the coming days. At this time, we join Top Rank in sending our thoughts and condolences to those in mourning.
